S.R. 123 Intersection Improvement/Roundabout Project Set To Begin Next Month
Warren County (Sunday, February 23, 2025) – An intersection improvement project is set to begin on state Route 123 in the city of Franklin next month, and the route will be subject to closure during construction.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be realigning the existing Community Park Drive with S.R. 123 to a 90-degree intersection opposite the new driveway to Franklin High School. The project also includes construction of a roundabout with crosswalks and rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs), as well as extension of the existing sidewalk on the south/west side of S.R. 123 to the new roundabout.
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, March 24, and S.R. 123 will be closed between Tama Lane and Sunnybrook Drive for approximately 120 days. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 73 (Riley Boulevard and E. 2nd Street), I-75 and S.R. 123. Access to businesses north of Community Park Drive will be maintained.
The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $2.3 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2025.
