Greene County (Wednesday, October 23, 2024) – A traffic shift is planned at the U.S. 35-Valley/Trebein interchange project next week and along with it will be the operation of a new signal.
The project to replace the existing at-grade U.S. 35/Valley/Trebein intersection with a full interchange of Valley/Trebein over U.S. 35 is moving along, bringing with it enhanced safety, the potential for economic development opportunities, and improved traffic flow on U.S. 35 in Greene County.
During the overnight hours next Thursday, October 31, traffic on westbound U.S. 35 will be shifted to the north, and once the shift has been completed, thru traffic on westbound U.S. 35 will be diverted by way of the interchange ramps to and from Trebein Road.
In anticipation of the upcoming traffic shift, a newly installed traffic signal at the intersection of Trebein Road and the ramps are being activated to flashing mode today, Wednesday, October 23. With the signal in flashing mode, drivers on Trebein Road will see yellow flashing signals, while the signal on the new, unopened U.S. 35 westbound ramp will be flashing red.
A flashing yellow signal means to proceed with caution through the intersection, and the signals will remain in flashing mode until the traffic shift has been completed and the ramps are open to traffic. Once the traffic shift is completed during the morning of November 1, the signal will be set to stop-and-go operation.
All work is contingent upon the weather and equipment, and motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution through the work zone.
