DEFIANCE COUNTY: Highway Construction Update

Week of June 10, 2024

LIMA, Ohio (Saturday, June 8, 2024) The following work is anticipated to affect highways in Defiance County. All outlined work is weather permitting.

U.S. 24 PROJECTS

U.S. 24 in both directions between U.S. 127 and Baltimore Street work began in May 2024 and will continue through Sept. 2025 for a pavement rehabilitation project.  Visit the project webpage for more information: PID 117367.

Please be aware of the following traffic impacts:

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

• U.S. 24 westbound is restricted to the right lane.
• U.S. 24 eastbound will be restricted to the left lane beginning Monday, June 17.
• CR 115 is closed to through traffic; only right turns are permitted (right-in and right-out).
• U.S. 24 eastbound U.S. 127 ramps will close June 17 for approximately 30 days (see detour map).
  • Entrance ramp detour: U.S. 24 west to SR 49 to U.S. 24 east
  • Exit ramp detour: U.S. 24 east to Baltimore St. to U.S. 24 west, back to U.S. 127

U.S. 24 westbound, the driving lane just west of High Street/Switzer Road overpass, will be closed for a slope stabilization project for approximately 60 days. Visit the project webpage.

U.S. 127 PROJECTS

U.S. 127, over the Maumee River, south of the village of Sherwood, opened to traffic on May 17 following a bridge replacement. Work will continue off the highway. Please be alert for construction activities through the area.

U.S. 127 in Sherwood between the northern corp. limit and the railroad crossing will be restricted to one lane the week of June 17 for resurfacing.

State Route 15/State Route 18 between Christy Rd. and Water St. over the Tiffin River closed on Monday, May 20, for approximately 100 days.  Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction. Visit the project page: PID 105148

TRAFFIC IMPACT

Detours: SR 18 to U.S. 127 to U.S. 24, back to SR 15 (see map).

State Route 18 and State Route 281, the Dommersville Road and E. Second Street intersection in the city of Defiance, will have traffic impacts for traffic signal work. Traffic will be maintained; flaggers may be necessary.

State Route 18 between State Route 281/Florence St. and the State Route 18/State Route 281 split will be restricted to one lane the week of June 10 for resurfacing.

State Route 66 between Sessions Ave. and Jewell Rd. will have lane closures (start date is not determined) for resurfacing.

State Route 281 between U.S. 24 and State Route 18 will be restricted to one lane the week of June 10 for resurfacing.
