HAMILTON COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

Through the week ending July 15, 2023: The following traffic advisory includes restrictions on the state highway system in Hamilton County. All work will be contingent upon the weather. For construction information and statewide information regarding road conditions, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com.

I-74/I-275 Resurfacing & Bridge Repairs - On I-74, from the Dry Fork Road interchange to just west of the Hamilton/Cleves Road interchange, as well as I-275, between its junction with I-74 and the Kilby Road interchange. Single-lane closures will be in effect on either route, with traffic maintained in one lane on weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 8 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day.

INTERSTATE 75 CONSTRUCTION

I-75/Mill Creek Expressway Major Rehabilitation  - Major rehabilitation project at the I-74/75 interchange to widen and resurface I-75 between Paddock Road and the Western Hills Viaduct and reconfigure the interchange. Work also includes interchange improvements at Hopple Street, I-74, Mitchell Avenue, Norwood Lateral and Paddock Road. Various lane and shoulder restrictions may be in effect on the mainline and at affected ramps within the project zone during evening and overnight hours.

Friday, July 7:

  • Single-lane (right lane) closure on I-74 East over northbound Beekman Street, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday for girder repair. The ramp to Beekman Street (Exit 18) will remain open to traffic.

Saturday, July 8:

  • Closure of the left lane (contraflow lane) on I-74 West, from the I-75 overpass to just west of Beekman Street, from 9 to 10 p.m. 
  • Closure of the exit ramp from I-74 West to northbound Beekman Street (Exit 18) from 10 p.m. to midnight. Traffic will be detoured via the Montana Avenue interchange and I-74 East to the Beekman Street exit.

I-75 Thru the Valley Major Rehabilitation - Between Glendale-Milford Road and the Kemper Road overpass. Restrictions will also be in effect on the Sharon Road overpass for bridge work, and various lane and shoulder restrictions will be in effect on the mainline, as well as intermittent restrictions at the ramps, including the following:

Friday, July 7:

  • Single-lane closure on I-75 North, from Sharon Road to Crescentville Road, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Sunday, July 9:

  • Close the ramp from I-275 East to I-75 South between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, July 10. During closure, traffic will be detoured via. I-275 East, Mosteller Road, I-275 West to I-75 South.
  • Single-lane closure on I-75 South, from Crescentville Road to Sharon Road, beginning at 8 p.m., followed by double-lane closures at 11 p.m., with all restrictions lifted by 6 a.m. 
  • Short-term full closures on I-75 South, from Sharon Road to Crescentville Road, between midnight and 4 a.m. Traffic will be maintained with law enforcement officers. 

I-75 Resurfacing - On I-75 North and South, between the Brent Spence Bridge and Harrison Avenue. Crews will be paving the final surface course and applying permanent pavement markings on the mainline, as well as the various ramps within the project limits. The following restrictions will be in effect:

Friday, July 7:

  • Paving operations on northbound I-75, between the bridge and the Western Hills viaduct. The ramps from Fort Washington Way and from 4th Street to I-75 North, as well as the W. 6th Street, 9th Street, and the I-75 North to Winchell Avenue ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following day.  

Sunday & Monday, July 9 & 10:

  • Paving the shoulders and ramps of I-75 North, between the bridge and the viaduct, from 7 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Closure of the ramps to Winchell Avenue and Ezzard Charles Drive, from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following day.  

Tuesday, July 11:

  • Paving the shoulders and ramps of I-75 South, between the viaduct and the bridge, from 7 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Closure of the ramps to Western Avenue/Liberty Street, Ezzard Charles Drive and Freeman Avenue, from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following day. 

Wednesday, July 12:

  • Paving the shoulders and ramps of I-75 South, between the viaduct and the bridge, from 7 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Closure of the ramps from I-75 South to W. 7th Street and from eastbound 6th Street to Fort Washington Way, from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following day. 

Thursday, July 13:

  • Paving the shoulders and ramps of I-75 South, between the viaduct and the bridge, from 7 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Closure of the ramp from I-75 South to Fort Washington Way,  from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following day. 

Friday, July 14:

  • Paving the shoulders and ramps of I-75 South, between the viaduct and the bridge, from 7 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day.

I-75 Slide Repair - Along I-75 South, just south of the Clifton Avenue overpass. Traffic on the ramp from Mitchell Avenue to I-75 South is shifted to the east and the right lane of I-75 South is closed to just south of the Clifton Avenue overpass for crews to install a drilled shaft wall along the west side of the interstate. The restrictions will remain in place through late September.

INTERSTATE 275 CONSTRUCTION

I-275 Resurfacing & SmartLane Installation - Lane restrictions and traffic shifts will be in effect on I-275 East and West between the Deerfield Road overpass and the Loveland-Madeira Road interchange, as well as additional lane restrictions between U.S. 42 and the Clermont County line. Intermittent lane closures will be in effect within the work zone, and ramps may be subject to overnight closure as needed. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2023. 


NEW IMPACTS

C.R. 457 (Harrison Avenue) - Intersection improvements on Harrison Avenue, between New Haven and West Roads. Single-lane closures will be in effect Monday-Friday, daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained through the work zone, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2023.

U.S. 22 Bridge Maintenance - On Montgomery Road at the structure over S.R. 562/Norwood Lateral, between Maple and Norwood avenues. The southbound right lane will be closed from Thursday, July 13, through Tuesday, July 18, for concrete repairs. Southbound traffic will be maintained in the left lane, and northbound traffic should not be affected by this restriction. 

 

CONTINUING IMPACTS

C.R. 277 (Snider Road) Bridge Rehabilitation - Over I-71, just north of the I-71/I-275 interchange. Snider Road is closed through early August, and while it is closed, traffic will be detoured by way of Kemper Road, U.S. 22/3, Mason-Montgomery Road and Fields-Ertel Road. All work is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall of 2023. 

C.R. 605 (E. McMillan Street) Bridge Rehabilitation - Over U.S. Route 42 (Reading Road), between Highland and Iowa avenues in Cincinnati. The right two lanes on McMillan Street, between Symmes Street and the on-ramp to I-71 North, are closed through Sunday, July 2, and traffic is being detoured via I-71 North, Martin Luther King Drive and U.S. 22. Lane restrictions may also be in effect on Burnet Avenue at the overpass. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024. 

C.R. 704 (Cooper Road) Bridge Rehabilitation - Over I-71, just north of Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway. Cooper Road has reopened, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed during hours of operation for finishing work. All work is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall of 2023. 

S.R. 32 Intersection Improvement - Construction of a Green T intersection at the junction with Eight Mile Road, east of Newtown. Eastbound S.R. 32 traffic is now being diverted to the westbound side of the route, and traffic is being maintained in one lane in each direction. Eight Mile Road remains closed at its junction with S.R. 32 through mid-fall of 2023, and traffic is being detoured via Clough Pike, Mt. Carmel Tobasco Road and S.R. 32. Additional lane restrictions may be in effect at various times throughout the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024.  

S.R. 264 (Bridgetown Road) Resurfacing - Between Indian Brave Trail/Aston View Lane near Cleves and Parkcrest Drive at Cincinnati. Crews will be working at various locations during the initial phase of work, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers daily from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All work is scheduled to be completed by October 2023.

U.S. 22 (Montgomery Road) Signalization - On Montgomery Road, between the Hertz Drive/I-275 interchange signal in Hamilton County to Landen Drive in Warren County. Installation of a flashing yellow arrow signal system along the corridor. Traffic will be maintained during construction as crews progress eastward along the route through the spring and early summer. The existing signals will continue to operate in standard stop-and-go fashion; however, traffic may be maintained with the use of flaggers as needed during crews' work hours. All work is scheduled for completion in late summer of 2023.

U.S. 42 (Lebanon Road) Intersection Improvement - At the intersection/interchange with I-275 and at Hauck Road. Lane restrictions will be in effect on U.S. 42, as well as on Hauck Road, between northbound U.S. 42 and the service road at McDonald's. 

U.S. 50 (Columbia Parkway) Bridge Rehabilitations - At the structures over Heekin Avenue and over the westbound ramp to Eastern Avenue, between Beechmont Avenue and the Red Bank Road interchanges. One lane of U.S. 50 East will be closed between S.R. 125 (Beechmont Avenue) and Red Bank Road through July 21, and following this, a single-lane closure will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The single-lane closure on westbound U.S. 50, between the Eastern Avenue exit and the S.R. 125 on-ramp, will continue to be in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. These restrictions are anticipated to be in effect through August 6. 

U.S. 50 (River Road) Pavement Rehabilitation - Contractors for the city of Cincinnati will be repairing pavement and resurfacing River Road between Anderson Ferry Road in Delhi to Dart Street in Sayler Park. Lane restrictions will be in effect during daytime, working hours, and motorists are advised to expect intermittent delays. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2023.
