Old SR 74 Reconstruction Project Update

Clermont County (Thursday, April 20, 2023) – As part of a reconstruction project on Old SR 74, a segment of the route will require closure, and contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will impart the additional restrictions early next month.

On Monday, May 1, crews will close Old SR 74 between Dogwood Road and Elick Lane for utility relocation and intersection reconstruction. The closure will be in effect through September 1, and motorists may detour via Old 74, S.R. 32 and Elick Lane.

Contractors are reconstructing and widening Old SR 74 between Schoolhouse Road and Springfield Court on the north side of S.R. 32 to improve traffic flow and accommodate added capacity from the S.R. 32/Bach Buxton interchange.

Lane shifts are currently in effect on Old SR 74, but two-way traffic is being maintained through the work zone and with the use of flaggers as needed during hours of operation.

The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $5.7 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be complete in June 2024.
