JEFFERSON COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update
WEEK OF AUGUST 15, 2022
New Philadelphia, Ohio (August 11, 2022) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Jefferson County. All outlined work is weather permitting.
U.S. 22 westbound ramp to SR 7 closure: The West Virginia Department of Highways advises that starting Monday, August 15, daytime closure of the U.S. 22 westbound ramp to State Route 7 south will take place from 7 AM to 5 PM, for bridge related work. The daytime closures are scheduled weekdays, only, through August 24, 2022. The detour is U.S. 22 westbound to the Lovers Lane EXIT to U.S. 22 eastbound to return to SR 7 south.
The following projects are ongoing in Jefferson County:
State Route 164 closure: SR 164 is closed to traffic for 45 days for a slide repair project located just south of Salineville. The detour is SR 524 north to SR 39 east, SR 39 east back to SR 164, and reverse. The completion date for all work is August 27, 2022.

State Route 7 Projects
State Route 7 restricted near Mingo Junction: SR 7 is restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction due to a landslide. ODOT is currently in the design phase for a future project to remediate the hillside. Construction is expected to begin in 2023. Out of an abundance of caution, SR 7 will remain restricted at this location until further notice.
State Route 7 southbound truck parking: Work is underway to rehabilitate an existing weigh station to a truck parking area located just north of Rayland. Once complete, the truck parking area will have fourteen spaces available for commercial truck parking. The completion date is September 30, 2022.

U.S. Route 22 Project
U.S. 22 retaining wall repair project: Located at the U.S. 22/SR 7 interchange in the City of Steubenville. Work includes concrete patching, fence repair, drainage improvements, tunnel repairs, and vegetation removal. Lane restrictions may occur throughout the duration of the project. The completion is October 31, 2022.

State Route 43 resurfacing work to begin in Steubenville: Work is underway to resurface a portion of SR 43 in Steubenville. Preparation work will take place during daytime hours over the next couple of weeks; however, once resurfacing work begins, that work will take place during nighttime hours. Traffic will be maintained via flaggers. The completion date is September 30, 2022. |
