Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF AUGUST 15, 2022

CHILLICOTHE - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Brown County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

S.R. 221 Bridge Replacement - The location of the bridge is approximately two miles south of Georgetown. S.R. 221 has reopened as of August 2 following setting of the new bridge beams. Temporary lane and road closures may be necessary to mobilize equipment and materials to and from the site. Future phases of construction will require additional longer duration closures of S.R. 221 to complete the project. Estimated completion: Fall 2022

U.S. 62 Slide Repair - Work has begun on a slide repair project along U.S. 62 between Chicken Hollow Road and North Pole Road as of July 25. Work will occur daily from 7 AM to 5 PM, Mon - Fri. For the first phase of the project, one lane of traffic will be maintained on U.S. 62 Southbound. Traffic on U.S. 62 Northbound will be unaffected during this phase. Estimated completion: Fall 2022

S.R. 131 Culvert Replacements - Work has begun on a project to replace four culverts on S.R. 131 between U.S. 68 and U.S. 50 as of July 18. The road will be closed 30 days for this construction. The location of the closure will change as each culvert is completed, but the signed detour will be the same for each location. During the closure traffic will be detoured via U.S. 68, U.S. 50, and S.R. 131. Estimated completion: August 19 by 3:30 PM

U.S. 52 Slide Repair - Work has begun on a slide repair project on U.S. 52 between Logan Gap Road and Three Mile Creek Road as of July 11. One lane of traffic will be maintained during construction using temporary traffic signals. Estimated completion: Fall 2022

S.R. 763 Culvert Replacement - Work has begun on a culvert replacement at the intersection of S.R. 763 and Martin Hill Road as of May 9. S.R. 763 was closed June 20 for 82 days. During the closure, traffic will be detoured via S.R. 41 to S.R. 136 to S.R. 126. Estimated completion: Fall 2022

U.S. 68 Safety Improvements - A safety improvement project has begun as of April 25 on U.S. 68 between Sterling Run Boulevard and the interchange with S.R. 32. Initial traffic impacts are expected to be minimal, and will include shoulder closures and narrowing and shifting of the existing lanes. As of June 14, the roundabout at the S.R. 32 Eastbound ramp terminals is open to traffic. The S.R. 32 Eastbound off-ramp to U.S. 68 is reduced to one lane. Estimated completion: Summer 2022

U.S. 62 / S.R. 136 Safety Improvements - The project will construct turn lanes at two intersections along S.R. 32. They will be at the intersection of S.R. 32 / S.R. 136 in Adams County and the intersection of S.R. 32 / U.S. 62 in Brown County. Traffic will be maintained with single lane closures. The turn lanes are being constructed on S.R. 136 and U.S. 62. Principal construction on this project has been completed. All remaining work will be performed using temporary lane closures and flaggers as needed. Estimated completion: Summer 2022
