HAMILTON COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

Through the week ending June 25, 2022: The following traffic advisory includes restrictions on the state highway system in Hamilton County. All work will be contingent upon the weather. For construction information and statewide information regarding road conditions, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com.

INTERSTATE 71 CONSTRUCTION

I-71 Bridge Repair - On I-71 North, at the Roberston Avenue overpass between the Smith Road interchange and S.R.562/Norwood Lateral. Traffic will be maintained through the work zone.

I-71 Resurfacing & Bridge Repair - From just north of Pfeiffer Road to the Fields Ertel Road interchange. Single-and double-lane closures may be in effect on I-71 North and South, including the following:  

  • Friday, June 17: Double-lane closures in the southbound direction from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday.
  • Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, June 20-21 & June 23: Double-lane closures on I-71 North from 7:30 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Wednesday & Friday, June 22 & 24: Double lane closures on I-71 South from 7:30 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day.

INTERSTATE 275 CONSTRUCTION

I-275 Pavement Repair/Paving - Between Winton Road and the I-75 interchange. Beginning Monday, June 20, single-lane closures on I-275 West at 6 p.m., followed by double-lane closures at 8 p.m. Traffic will be maintained, and all restrictions will be lifted by 6 a.m. the following day. 

I-275 Fiber Optic Cable Installation - At various locations between the I-74 and U.S. 27 interchanges; between the U.S. 22/Montgomery Road and S.R. 28 interchanges; and between the S.R. 32 and U.S. 52 interchanges. Traffic will be maintained through the various work zones. The project is scheduled to be complete in early summer 2022.

I-275 Resurfacing & SmartLane Installation - Lane restrictions and traffic shifts will be in effect on I-275 East and West between the Deerfield Road overpass and the Loveland-Madeira Road interchange, as well as additional lane restrictions between U.S. 42 and the Clermont County line.

I-275/Cornell & Weller Road Bridge Repairs - I-275 may be subject to intermittent lane restrictions at the Cornell and Weller Road overpasses, including the following:

  • Friday, June 17: Single and double-lane closures on I-275 East, between the I-71 and Montgomery Road interchanges, beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m. Saturday, June 18.

U.S. 50/I-471 Bridge Repair - At I-471 North and the U.S. 50/Third Street ramp. A 30-day closure of the ramp from I-471 to U.S. 50 West is in effect through early July. Traffic will be detoured via I-71, S.R. 562 and I-75. The project is scheduled to be completed in late Summer 2022.

INTERSTATE 75 CONSTRUCTION

I-75/Mill Creek Expressway Major Rehabilitation  - Major rehabilitation project at the I-74/75 interchange to widen and resurface I-75 between Paddock Road and the Western Hills Viaduct and reconfigure the interchange. Work also includes interchange improvements at Hopple Street, I-74, Mitchell Avenue, Norwood Lateral and Paddock Road. Various lane closures and restrictions will be in effect as needed, including the following:

Friday, June 17:

  • Single-lane closures on I-75 South, between the Mitchell Avenue and Hopple Street interchanges, beginning at 8 p.m., followed by double-lane closure at 9 p.m. and a triple-lane closureat 10 p.m. All restrictions will be lifted by 6 a.m. Saturday, June 18.
  • Closure of the ramp from I-75 South to I-74 West from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday. Traffic will be detoured via the Hopple Street interchange.
  • Closure of the ramp from I-75 South to Hopple Street from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via Western Avenue, Findley Street and Winchell Avenue to I-75 North and Hopple Street. 
  • Closure of the ramp from eastbound Hopple Street to I-75 South. Traffic will be detoured via Spring Grove Avenue and the Western Hills Viaduct. 
  • Single-lane closure on I-74 East at the ramp to I-75 South, and on I-74 West, between the I-75 North split and the bridge over Mill Creek, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday.    

Sunday & Monday, June 19 & 20:

  • Single-lane closures on I-75 South, between the Mitchell Avenue and Hopple Street interchanges, beginning each night at 8 p.m., followed by double-lane closure at 9 p.m. and a triple-lane closureat 10 p.m. All restrictions will be lifted by 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Closure of the ramp from I-75 South to Hopple Street from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via Western Avenue, Findley Street and Winchell Avenue to I-75 North and Hopple Street. 
  • Closure of the ramp from eastbound Hopple Street to I-75 South. Traffic will be detoured via Spring Grove Avenue and the Western Hills Viaduct. 
  • Single-lane closure on I-74 East at the ramp to I-75 South, and on I-74 West, between the I-75 North split and Beekman Street, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Tuesday & Wednesday, June 21 & 22: 

  • Single-lane closures on I-75 North, between the Hopple Street and Mitchell Avenue interchanges, beginning each night at 8 p.m., followed by double-lane closure at 9 p.m. and a triple-lane closure at 10 p.m. All restrictions will be lifted by 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Closure of the Hopple Street entrance ramp to I-75 North, from 10 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day. Traffic will be detoured via U.74 West and the Beekman Street interchange. 

Thursday & Friday, June 23 & 24:

  • Single-lane closures on I-75 North, between the Hopple Street and Mitchell Avenue interchanges, beginning each night at 8 p.m., followed by double-lane closure at 9 p.m. and a triple-lane closure at 10 p.m. All restrictions will be lifted by 6 a.m. the following day. 

I-75 Thru the Valley Major Rehabilitation - Between Glendale-Milford Road and the Kemper Road overpass. Various lane and shoulder restrictions will be in effect on the mainline, as well as intermittent restrictions at the ramps at the Sharon Road interchange.

I-75 Bridge (Ramp) Repair - At the ramp from I-75 North to I-275 West, which carries traffic over I-75. Intermittent lane restrictions and ramp closures will be in effect during hours of operation.

I-75 Resurfacing - On I-75 North and South, between the Brent Spence Bridge and Harrison Avenue. Construction has been suspended temporarily; however, crews will return during the summer to resume operations. All work is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2022.

NEW IMPACTS

Cornell Road (C.R. 256) Bridge Repair - Over I-275. Single-lane closure is scheduled to go into effect Monday, June 27, on Cornell Road for barrier wall and sidewalk construction. Traffic will be maintained with temporary signals, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. 

S.R. 126/RRCC Highway Slide Repair - Along westbound S.R. 126, just east of the Ridge Road/Columbia Avenue interchange. Shoulder and single-lane restrictions will be in effect for slide and culvert repairs. All work is scheduled to be completed by late fall of 2022.

S.R. 264 Culvert Rehabilitation - Between Virginia Court and Glenway Avenue. Single-lane closures will be in effect, and traffic will be maintained by temporary signals and/or flaggers when crews are at work. All work is scheduled to be completed in late summer. 

U.S. 50 (Columbia Parkway) Bridge Rehabilitations - At the structures over Heekin Avenue and over the westbound ramp to Eastern Avenue, between Beechmont Avenue and the Red Bank Road interchanges. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-July

 

CONTINUING IMPACTS

S.R. 125/Beechmont Bridge Connector/LMSRT - Construction of a new segment of the Little Miami Scenic Trail from the existing trail along S.R. 32, crossing the Little Miami River and connecting with the Lunken Trail, west of the river. Various lane and ramp closures may be in place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., including the following:

  • Friday & Saturday, June 17 & 18: Beechmont Avenue will be fully closed in the westbound direction between the S.R. 32 interchange and Beechmont Circle, from 9 p.m. each night to 8 a.m. the following day. During periods of closure, westbound traffic will be detoured by way of S.R. 32, Newtown Road and U.S. 50. Eastbound traffic will be maintained in one lane through the work zone.

U.S. 22 (Gilbert Avenue) Bridge Repair -  Over Eggleston Avenue and Culvert Street in Cincinnati. Single-lane closures are in effect between Court and Broadway streets, and the sidewalk along the bridge is closed, and restrictions will also be in place in the parking area beneath the bridge to within five feet of the work area.

U.S. 42 (Lebanon Road) Intersection Improvement - At the intersection/interchange with I-275 and at Hauck Road. Hauck Road is closed for up to 90 days (through July 1) for culvert replacement and railroad crossing improvements. Traffic will be detoured via Reading Road, Kemper Road and U.S. 42. Traffic on U.S. 42 will be maintained through the work zone; however, intermittent restrictions will be in effect during hours of operation.

U.S. 52 (Kellogg Avenue) Slide Repair - Along eastbound U.S. 52/Kellogg Avenue. A single-lane closure is in effect in the eastbound direction, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall of 2022.

Paddison Road (C.R. 376) - Sidewalk installation on Paddison Road (county Route 376) between S.R. 125 and Woodridge Drive. Various lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and traffic will be maintained with flaggers as needed.
