BELMONT COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF JUNE 13, 2022

New Philadelphia, Ohio (June 2, 2022) -The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Belmont County in the coming weeks. All outlined work is weather permitting.

I-70 resurfacing project: Nighttime work is set to begin Sunday, June 12, on preparations for an upcoming resurfacing project to near St. Clairsville. Nighttime lane closures will occur for the next three weeks between the hours of 9 PM and 6 AM, weekdays, only. Following the completion of this work, daytime lane restrictions will take place for resurfacing work along I-70. The completion date for this project is October 31, 2022.

I-470 EXIT 6 (for State Route 7) nighttime on/off ramps closure: Starting Monday, June 13, at 7 PM, the I-470 ramp for SR 7 will close to traffic for bridge paving work. The ramp is expected to reopen by Tuesday, June 14, at 6 AM.

DETOUR INFORMATION:

I-470 westbound on-ramp: Take I-470 east to U.S. Route 250/SR 2 (Exit 1) in West Virginia, use the exit to return to tI-470 west.
I-470 eastbound off-ramp: Take I-470 west to CR 214 (EXIT 3), use the exit to return to I-470 east back to SR 7 (Exit 6)

The following projects are ongoing in Belmont County:

I-470 PROJECTS:

I-470 daily lane restrictions east of I-70: Starting Monday, May 23, daily lane closures will take place in both directions of I-470 about a mile east of I-70 for bridge work. This work will take place Monday through Friday, 8AM to 3PM. This work is expected to be completed by Friday, June 3.

I-470 overhead bridge repair project at County Road 214 (High Ridge Road): During this work, one lane of traffic will be maintained on CR 214 via temporary traffic signals. Various lane restrictions may occur along I-470 throughout the project. The completion date is August 31, 2022.

STATE ROUTE 7 PROJECT

State Route 7 bridge rehabilitation project in Shadyside: Bridge work along SR 7 over Central Avenue in Shadyside. One lane of traffic maintained in each direction with an 11.5-foot width restriction. The completion date is September 30, 2022.

State Route 147 closure: SR 147 is closed east of Belmont for 30 days for a slide repair project. The detour is SR 147 east to SR 9 north, SR 9 north to SR 149 west, SR 149 west back to SR 147, and reverse. The completion date for all work on this project is August 31, 2022.

State Route 148 restriction for slide repair: SR 148 is restricted just east of Armstrong Mills via temporary traffic signals for a slide repair project. Due to recent activity on the hillside, the completion date is unknown at this time.

State Route 149 slide repair: SR 149 is restricted west of Neffs for a slide repair project. During this work, traffic is maintained via temporary traffic signals. The completion date is August 31, 2022.

I-70 Forward Project

WVDOH I-70 bridge replacement project: Located along I-70 between Marion St. and the Ohio/West Virginia state line. East and westbound traffic is restricted to one, 12-foot lane via crossovers.
