U.S. 6 Charles Berry Bascule Bridge
LORAIN COUNTY (Friday, May 6, 2022) - All outlined work is subject to change.
The U.S. 6 Charles Berry Bascule Bridge over the Black River, between Washington Avenue and Arizona Avenue, is scheduled to begin the necessary bridge repairs beginning Monday, May 9 and will remain closed to westbound traffic.
The bridge remains open to eastbound traffic only and pedestrian traffic should utilize the south sidewalk beginning Monday, May 9.
It will take approximately 1-2 days to install the new parts and re-align the lock.
The bridge experienced a mechanical failure on the north span lock which occurred on April 12, 2022.
Estimated reopening date: Tuesday, May 10, 2022
