Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF MAY 8, 2022

Chillicothe, Ohio (Thursday, May 5, 2022) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Ross County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

S.R.  138 Culvert Replacements - Work has begun on S.R. 138 for an ODOT maintenance project to replace four culverts between Bayless Road and Greenlee Road. The road will be closed daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, and traffic will be detoured via S.R. 41 to U.S. 35 to S.R. 138. Estimated completion: May 20 by 4 PM

UPDATED* U.S. 35 West Bridge Deck Repair - Work has begun on a bridge deck repair project on U.S. 35 Westbound between Main Street and Bridge Street as of April 18. The project will repair and overlay the deck of the bridge that carries U.S. 35 West over U.S. 23 South. Traffic on U.S. 35 West will be maintained in one lane throughout. There will be an overnight closure of U.S. 23 Southbound on May 5 starting at 10 PM for this construction.

• U.S. 23 Southbound Detour: Traffic will be detoured via S.R. 159 (Bridge Street) to U.S. 35 Eastbound to U.S. 23 Southbound. 
• Estimated completion: Summer 2022 

UPDATED* Adena Road Bridge Closure - Adena Road is closed at the bridge over U.S. 35 until further notice due to a damaged beam. The bridge will remain closed until repairs can be completed. Repairs are estimated to begin sometime in May. Traffic is being detoured via Pleasant Valley Road, S.R. 104, Orange Street, Piatt Avenue, and Buckeye Street. Estimated completion: Summer 2022

S.R. 180/ S.R. 327 Resurfacing -  Work is set to begin on a resurfacing project on S.R. 180 between Hallsville and Adelphi, and S.R. 327 between Londonderry and Adelphi starting April 4. Work will occur daily from 7 AM to 5 PM, with traffic maintained in one lane using flaggers. Estimated completion: Summer 2022

S.R. 772 Landslide Remediation - Work has begun on a project to remediate a landslide along S.R. 772 by benching and laying back of the existing hillside. The project is located between Bishop Hill Road and Rinehart Road. Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal for the first phase of construction, with traffic maintained in one lane using flaggers as needed. A later phase of the project will require a full closure of S.R. 772. Estimated completion: Fall 2022

S.R. 159 Signal upgrade- A project to upgrade numerous traffic signals along Bridge Street (S.R. 159) in the city of Chillicothe. This project will affect the signals between Stewart Lane and Menard’s, as well as additional improvements to the U.S. 35 Eastbound off-ramp intersection. Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal, but may include short term lane closures and restrictions during work hours, 7 AM to 3 PM. Access to businesses and side roads will be maintained throughout construction. Estimated completion: Spring 2022
