LICKING COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

Week of 5/2/2022

Jacksontown, Ohio (Friday, April 29, 2022) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Licking County. All outlined work is weather permitting.

State Route 37/661

State Route 37/661 bridge over State Route 16 in Granville - This project will reconstruct the bridge carrying SR 37/SR 661 over SR 16 in Granville. The project will also include turn lane additions along the SR 37/SR 661 entrance and exit ramps. The intersection of SR 661 and River Road/Weaver Drive will be improved to include turn lanes along SR 37/SR 661 and along westbound River Road. The intersection will be signalized. 

  • New impacts: Beginning the week of May 2, daytime lane closures will continue on SR 16 in the project area so crews are able to stain and seal portions of the bridge over SR 16.

Interstate 70

Interstate 70 resurfacing - This project includes resurfacing with related work on portions of I-70 in Licking and Muskingum Counties from CR 330 (Shelly Rd.) in Licking County to the Licking/Muskingum County line and Licking/Muskingum County line to just east of CR 30 in Muskingum County. Estimated project completion is October 2022.

  • New impacts:  
    • Motorists can expect single lane closures on Midland Oil and Mt. Hope Roads during the week of 5/2 for completion of bridge repairs.
    • Beginning the week of May 2, there will be night time lane closures of I-70 from the three lane portion in eastern Licking County to Mt. Perry Rd (Exit 143) in western Muskingum County for paving operations.

Interstate 70 resurfacing  - This project includes resurfacing I-70 and barrier wall repairs between SR 13 and Mt. Hope Road, just west of the SR 668 exit in Licking County. Estimated project completion is August 2022.

  • New impacts: The ramps at the I-70/SR 13 interchange are scheduled to close the week of May 2. Each ramp will be close for one day at a time. The closure schedule is anticipated to be as follows:

    • I-70 east to SR 13              5/4  6am to 4pm

    • SR 13 to I-70 east              5/5 no time restrictions

    • I-70 west to SR 13             5/6 no time restrictions

    • SR 13 to I-70 west             5/7  8am to 8pm
