HAMILTON COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update


Through the week ending April 9, 2022: The following traffic advisory includes restrictions on the state highway system in Hamilton County. All work will be contingent upon the weather. For construction information and statewide information regarding road conditions, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com.

I-71_Large

I-71 Lytle Tunnel Maintenance - The following restrictions will be in place at the Lytle Tunnel on I-71 for regularly scheduled maintenance:

  • Friday & Saturday, April 1 & 2: I-71 South will be closed at Exit 2 and through the tunnel from 10 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day. U.S. 42/Eden Park Drive entrance ramp will be closed, and motorists may follow the Liberty Street entrance ramp to southbound I-471 and follow I-71 detour. Third Street exit ramp to I-71 South will be closed, and motorists detour via Gilbert Avenue/Reading Road to access downtown.

While the tunnel is closed in the southbound direction, traffic will be detoured by way of I-471 and I-275 West to I-71/I-75 or via the Norwood Lateral and I-75 South. 


I-71 Bridge Repair
- On I-71 North, between the Smith Road interchange and S.R> 562/Norwood Lateral. The following evening and overnight restrictions will be in effect for the repairs:

  • Wednesday, April 6 - Double left-lane closure beginning at 7 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Thursday, April 7 - Double right-lane closure, including closure of the Edwards Road northbound ramp, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. 
  • Monday, April 11 - Double left-lane closure from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Tuesday, April 12 - Double right-lane closure, including the Edwards Road northbound ramp, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. 
  • Wednesday, April 13 - Double left-lane closure from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Thursday, April 14 - Double right-lane closure, including the Edwards Road northbound ramp, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

INTERSTATE 75 CONSTRUCTION

I-75/Mill Creek Expressway Major Rehabilitation  - Major rehabilitation project at the I-74/75 interchange to widen and resurface I-75 between Paddock Road and the Western Hills Viaduct and reconfigure the interchange. Work also includes interchange improvements at Hopple Street, I-74, Mitchell Avenue, Norwood Lateral and Paddock Road. Various lane closures and restrictions will be in effect as needed, as well as restrictions on local streets that include Borden Place, Powers Street, King Place, Elmore Street and Prang Street adjacent to I-74 for drainage work, lighting improvements and reconfiguration/reconstruction.

I-75 Thru the Valley Major Rehabilitation - Between Glendale-Milford Road and the Kemper Road overpass. Various lane and shoulder restrictions will be in effect on the mainline, as well as intermittent restrictions at the ramps at the Sharon Road interchange. In addition, the following overnight restrictions will be in effect:

  • Thursday, April 7 - Single-lane closure on the ramp from I-275 to I-75 South, and single- and double-lane closures on I-75 North, just north of the Sharon Road exit, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, April 8. Intermittent, short-term full closures will also be in effect on I-75 North, and traffic will be maintained with law enforcement officers.

I-275 (Cornell Road overpass) Bridge Rehabilitation - Single-lane closure on I-275 between I-71 and the Cornell Road overpass in effect through 6 a.m. Monday, March 28. In addition, the ramp from I-71 North of I-275 East is closed through the weekend as part of traffic control on I-275. Traffic will be redirected by way of I-275 West and the Reed Hartman Highway interchange. All restrictions are scheduled to be lifted by 6 a.m. Monday.

I-275 Fiber Optic Cable Installation - At various locations between the I-74 and U.S. 27 interchanges; between the U.S. 22/Montgomery Road and S.R. 28 interchanges; and between the S.R. 32 and U.S. 52 interchanges. Traffic will be maintained through the various work zones. The project is scheduled to be complete in early summer 2022.

I-275 Resurfacing & SmartLane Installation - Lane restrictions and traffic shifts will be in effect on I-275 East and West between the Deerfield Road overpass and the Loveland-Madeira Road interchange beginning Monday, April 4. Traffic will be maintained in three, 11-foot lanes through the work zone.


NEW IMPACT

E. McMillan Street/I-71 Overpass Bridge Repair - Single-lane restrictions will be in effect on E. McMillan Street, between Symmes Street and the on-ramp to I-71 North, Wednesday, April 6, through Friday, May 13, during daylight hours while crews work to repair the concrete parapet. 

 

CONTINUING IMPACTS

John A. Roebling Bridge Restoration - The suspension bridge between Cincinnati and Covington is closed for a bridge restoration by the Kentucky Transportation  Cabinet. Motorists may detour via the Clay Wade Bailey (U.S. 25/42/127) Bridge or the 4th Street/Veterans Bridge. 

S.R. 125/Beechmont Bridge Connector/LMSRT - Construction of a new segment of the Little Miami Scenic Trail from the existing trail along S.R. 32, crossing the Little Miami River and connecting with the Lunken Trail, west of the river. Various lane and ramp closures will be in place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, and all work is scheduled to be completed in August of 2022. 

U.S. 22 (Gilbert Avenue) Bridge Repair -  Over Eggleston Avenue and Culvert Street in Cincinnati. Single-lane closures are in effect between Court and Broadway streets, and the sidewalk along the bridge is closed, and restrictions will also be in place in the parking area beneath the bridge to within five feet of the work area.

U.S. 42 (Lebanon Road) Intersection Improvement - At the intersection/interchange with I-275 and at Hauck Road. Effective April 1, Hauck Road will be closed for up to 90 days for culvert replacement and railroad crossing improvements. Traffic will be detoured via Reading Road, Kemper Road and U.S. 42.Traffic on U.S. 42 will be maintained through the work zone. 

Paddison Road (C.R. 376) - Sidewalk installation on Paddison Road (county Route 376) between S.R. 125 and Woodridge Drive. Various lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the end of May, and traffic will be maintained with flaggers.
