S.R. 32/Bach Buxton Interchange Project Gets Under Way

Newberry Drive slated for closure this week

Clermont County (Tuesday, March 8, 2022) –  The Eastern Corridor program includes multiple projects to meet traffic demands, reduce congestion, and improve overall access and safety, and construction of a new interchange at state Route 32 and Bach Buxton Road/Elick Lane is one of the many projects outlined in Segments IV and IVA that will address the growing transportation needs along the S.R. 32 corridor in Clermont County.

The S.R. 32/Bach Buxton interchange project will create a new, full-service diamond interchange along S.R. 32 immediately east of the existing Elick Lane intersection by realigning and extending Bach Buxton Road over S.R. 32 and connecting with Old S.R. 74 on the north side.

As part of the interchange project, the intersection of Elick Lane at S.R. 32 will be eliminated, and Elick Lane will be turned into a cul-de-sac. Newberry Drive (at the former Thornton’s gas station) will also be closed permanently, and three traffic signals within the corridor will be eliminated.

Additional phases of the project will include constructing a third, westbound lane on S.R. 32, between the new interchange and Glen Este-Withamsville Road, and realigning Bach Buxton Road between Marian Drive and Clepper Lane.

Site preparations are under way with clearing and structure demolition, and traffic along S.R. 32 will continue to be maintained during the initial stages of construction. The closure of Newberry Drive will go into effect this week, and motorists will have access to S.R. 32 by way of Marian Drive and Bach Buxton.

The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $42.5 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be complete in late fall 2024.
