SUMMIT COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 22

AKRON, Ohio (Thursday, November 18, 2021) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Summit County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

     I-76/I-77 Akron Beltway reconstruction

Interstate 76/77 Akron Beltway reconstruction, Akron – reconstruction of I-76/I-77 between Princeton Ave. to V. Odom Blvd., I-77 between Cole Ave. and Waterloo Rd., and at State Route 8/I-76/I-77 Central Interchange.
NEW IMPACT – I-77 southbound at the Kenmore Leg is NOW OPEN.
NEW IMPACT – Beginning on Monday morning, November 22, the follow lane restrictions and ramp closures will occur through late fall 2022.

  • I-77 northbound between I-277/U.S. 224 and the Central Interchange will be reduced to two lanes.
  • The ramp from I-277/U.S. 224 westbound to I-77 northbound will be closed. The detour will be I-277 westbound to I-76/Kenmore Leg.
  • The ramp from I-277/U.S. 224 eastbound to I-77 northbound will be closed. The detour will be I-76/Kenmore Leg.
  • The ramp from Waterloo Rd. to I-77 northbound will be closed. The detour will be Main St. or Arlington Rd. north to I-76 or south to I-277.
  • The ramp from State Route 764/Wilbeth Rd. to I-77 northbound will be closed. The detour will be Main St. or Arlington Rd. north to I-76 or south to I-277.
  • The ramp from Archwood Ave. to I-77 northbound will be closed. The detour will be Main St. or Arlington Rd. north to I-76 or south to I-277.

NEW IMPACT

  • On Tuesday morning, November 23, at 6 a.m., I-77 northbound at the Kenmore Leg will re-open.

State Route 91, U.S. 224 & Canton Rd. widening and safety improvements, Lakemore & Springfield Township
Beginning on Sunday morning, November 21, the following traffic patterns will be in place:

  • Canton Rd. between Springfield Lake Dr and US 224 cannot make a left turn. Northbound traffic should use the U-turn at Linwood Rd and southbound traffic should use the U-turn at Springfield Lake Dr.
  • State Route 91 and Canton Rd between the Lakemore Shopping Plaza and Russet Lane has various daily lane restrictions.
  • S. 224 between E. Park Way and Ewart Rd. has various daily lane restrictions.

The following traffic patterns are currently in place through Saturday evening, November 20:

  • No right turns are permitted for trucks from State Route 91 southbound to U.S. 224 westbound. The detour is Canton Rd. southbound to Springfield Lake Dr turnaround to Canton Rd. northbound.
  • No left turns are permitted from U.S. 224 eastbound to State Route 91 northbound. The detour is Canton Rd. southbound to Springfield Lake Dr turnaround to Canton Rd. northbound.
  • No left turns are permitted for trucks from U.S. 224 westbound to Canton Rd. southbound. The detour is Canton Rd. northbound to Linwood Rd. turnaround to Canton Rd. south.
  • S. 224 between E. Park Way and Ewart Rd. is reduced to one lane in each direction through late fall 2021.
  • Canton Rd. and State Route 91 is reduced to one lane in each direction between the Lakemore Shopping Plaza and Russet Lane.
  • Canton Rd between Springfield Lake Dr and US 224 cannot make a left turn. northbound traffic should use the U-turn at Linwood Rd and southbound traffic should use the U-turn at Springfield Lake Dr.
