U.S. 35 Superstreet Changes Slated To Go Into Effect

New traffic operations set to be in place tonight, tomorrow

Greene County (Monday, Nov. 1, 2021) – Following several weather-related delays that affected paving and other operations during the last two weeks, the U.S. 35 Superstreet in Greene County is now set to open to traffic.

Beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, Nov. 1, crews will shift traffic into the final configuration at the Orchard Lane intersection, and the loons and stop-and-go signals will be operational by 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2. Then Tuesday night, crews will move to the Factory Road intersection and complete the final configuration there starting at 7 p.m., with the loons and signals at this intersection operational by 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3.

Once the signals are operational and the loons for the Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) are open to traffic, left-turn and cross-over movements from either Factory Road or Orchard Lane to U.S. 35 will be prohibited. Motorists traveling on these routes from direction will be required to turn right onto U.S. 35 and either continue to the nearby loon, where they can make a legal U-turn and proceed on U.S. 35 in the opposite direction or return to either of the side streets.

Left-turn movements from U.S. 35 to either Factory Road or Orchard Lane will continue to be permitted, and traffic at these intersections will be controlled by signals as well.
