Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF AUGUST 30, 2021

Chillicothe, Ohio (Thursday, August 26, 2021) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Scioto County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

UPDATED* Scioto Riverfront Multi-Use Path – Starting August 26, Front Street will be reduced to one lane between Washington Street and the U.S. Grant Bridge with traffic moving Eastbound only. This configuration is planned to be in place for the next 4-6 weeks. Traffic seeking to exit Shawnee State University Campus will need to use Waller Street on the east side of campus during this time. Estimated completion: Fall 2021

NEW* U.S. Grant Bridge Annual Inspection- The U.S. Grant Bridge will experience shoulder closures for two days for annual inspection Starting on August 31. Traffic in each direction will be maintained during this work. Estimated completion: September 1

U.S. 23 Erosion Control - U.S. 23 Southbound will be reduced to one lane south of the intersection with Old Scioto Trail starting August 17. U.S. 23 Northbound traffic may be reduced to one lane intermittently for this construction. Estimated completion: Fall 2021

S.R. 139 Tree Trimming – S.R. 139 will be closed starting August 17 for a tree trimming. Traffic will be detoured via S.R. 335 to S.R. 32. Roadway will remain open on weekends. Estimated completion: August 27

S.R. 335/S.R. 348 Chip Seal - Work is set to begin on a chip seal resurfacing project on S.R. 335 and S.R. 348 starting August 16. Affected routes will experience daily lane closures between 7 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Traffic will be maintained using flaggers. 

• S.R. 335 - Between Piketon Road and the Pike County Line
• S.R. 348 - Between the village of Otway and Pleasant Hill Drive

Estimated completion: Fall 2021

S.R. 348 Bridge Replacement – S.R. 348 will be closed for 45 days starting July 19 between Henley Comstock Road and Mt. Hope Road. Traffic will be detoured via S.R. 104 and S.R. 73. Estimated completion: Summer 2021

U.S. 23/Feurt Hill Road Intersection Improvement – Feurt Hill Road will be reduced to one lane maintained with temporary signals. Traffic will also begin using the new extension of Feurt Hill Road for access to and from U.S. 23 Southbound. The shoulder of U.S. 23 Southbound is closed. Traffic on U.S. 23 may experience intermittent lane restrictions, with at least one lane in each direction maintained at all times.  Estimated completion: Fall 2021

State Route 823 routine maintenance – state Route 823 will be reduced to one, 14-foot lane in each direction daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for routine maintenance and other work as needed from August 17 to August 28. Estimated completion: August 28, by 6:30 p.m.
