HAMILTON COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

Through the week ending August 28, 2021: The following traffic advisory includes restrictions on the state highway system in Hamilton County. All work will be contingent upon the weather. For construction information and statewide information regarding road conditions, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com.


I-71_Small

INTERSTATE 71 CONSTRUCTION

I-71 Major Rehabilitation - Widening to three lanes between S.R. 126 (Ronald Reagan Cross-County Highway) and S.R. 562 (Norwood Lateral), as well as bridge work at multiple structures and removing the Ridge Road exit and adding an exit to Kennedy Avenue on northbound I-71. Intermittent single-lane closures will be in effect through the work zone during late evening and overnight hours. In addition, the ramp from Kennedy Avenue to I-71 North is closed through late August for paving work. All work is anticipated to be complete by mid-October.

INTERSTATE 74 CONSTRUCTION

I-74 Slide Repair - At the Colerain/Beekman ramp to I-74 West. Traffic will be maintained, and intermittent restrictions may be in effect on I-74 at the interchange, including the following:

  • Sunday, August 22 - Closure of the ramps from Colerain Avenue and Beekman Street to I-74 West between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, August 23.
  • Monday & Tuesday, August 23 & 24 - Single-lane closure on I-74 West between Colerain Avenue/Beekman Street and Montana Avenue, from 8 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day.

INTERSTATE 75 CONSTRUCTION

I-75/Mill Creek Expressway Major Rehabilitation  - Major rehabilitation project at the I-74/75 interchange to widen and resurface I-75 between Paddock Road and the Western Hills Viaduct and reconfigure the interchange. Work also includes interchange improvements at Hopple Street, I-74, Mitchell Avenue, Norwood Lateral and Paddock Road. Various lane closures will be in effect in the construction zone, including one lane of I-74 West that is closed between I-75 North and the ramp from I-75 South through early October for paving.

I-275 Slide Repair - Near the Kilby Road interchange. Traffic will be maintained through the work zone; however, I-275 may be subject to intermittent lane restrictions, and the ramps to/from Kilby Road may be subject to intermittent, short-term full closures during overnight hours. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall 2021.

I-275 Slide Repair - Along the left side of the entrance ramp from southbound Loveland Madeira Road to I-275 West. Restrictions on in place on the slip ramp, and the ramp will be subject to intermittent periods of closure. During periods of closure, southbound Loveland Madeira Road motorists (passenger vehicles) to I-275 West will be routed by way of the traffic signal; heavy (large) truck traffic will be detoured by way of I-275 East and the Wards Corner Road interchange to I-275 West. Traffic on the mainline of I-275 will be maintained. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall.


NEW  IMPACTS

Weller Road Bridge Rehabilitation - Over I-275, between Bridgewater Lane and Indian Woods/Weller Woods Drive. The bridge is closed through early December 2021, and traffic is being detoured by way of Weil Road, Kemper Road and U.S. Route 22 (Montgomery Road). 

Deer Park Pedestrian Connector - On St. John's Terrace, Blue Ash Road and Orchard Lane. Replacement of curb and gutter, drive aprons, installation of signage and pavement markings. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed through the work zone. Construction is scheduled to be completed by late fall of 2021.

U.S. 22 (Gilbert Avenue) Bridge Repair -  Over Eggleston Avenue and Culvert Street in Cincinnati. Beginning Monday, August 9, single-lane closures will be in effect in the westbound direction between Court and Broadway streets, and on August 16, a single-lane closure will go into effect in the eastbound direction. The sidewalk along the bridge is closed, and restrictions will also be in place in the parking area beneath the bridge to within five feet of the work area.

U.S. 42 Intersection Improvement - At the intersection/interchange with I-275 and at Hauck Road. Nightly, single-lane closures will be in effect on U.S. 42 (Lebanon Road) North and South between Executive Drive and Fields Ertel Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic will be maintained through the work zone.

 

CONTINUING IMPACTS

Brent Spence Bridge Maintenance - A bridge repair project on Brent Spence Bridge by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet through mid-November 2021, including the following restrictions Friday, Aug. 20 – Sunday, Aug. 22:

  • Beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 20, travel on I-71/75 northbound will be reduced to one lane, and access to I-75 northbound from the Brent Spence Bridge will be CLOSED until Saturday morning. Once work on the western side of the bridge has been completed, crews will reopen access to I-75 northbound and then access to I-71 northbound will be CLOSED until approximately 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday. Following this, the two left lanes of travel on the northbound deck will be open, and access to I-75 and I-71 will be restored.
  • Rolling roadblocks on I-71/75 northbound will also be in effect just south of the bridge from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday, with law enforcement holding traffic in 15-minute intervals for crews to impart traffic pattern changes on the bridge.
  • Beginning at 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, travel on I-71/75 northbound will again be reduced to one lane; however, access to I-75 and I-71 will remain open. The two left lanes of travel on the northbound deck should be open by 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22.
  • I-75 South will remain open to two, 11-foot lanes on the bridge, and access from southbound I-71 to the bridge, as well as from Fort Washington Way and Third Street to I-71 South and the bridge, remains closed. Southbound I-71 traffic is being detoured via I-471. 

John A. Roebling Bridge Restoration - The suspension bridge between Cincinnati and Covington is closed for a bridge restoration by the Kentucky Transportation  Cabinet. Motorists may detour via the Clay Wade Bailey (U.S. 25/42/127) Bridge or the 4th Street/Veterans Bridge. Interim completion is scheduled for late November 2021, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 31.

Compton Road SRTS Sidewalk - Along the north side of Compton Road, between Forest and Werner avenues. Construction also includes pedestrian improvements at four intersections on U.S. 127 (Hamilton Avenue) between Kinney Avenue and Adams Road. Intermittent lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer.

C.R. 251 (Blue Ash Road) Sidewalk & Signalization - Between Duneden and Galbraith roads. Construction has resumed to complete sidewalk, curb ramp and other paving operations. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed through the work zone. All work is scheduled to be completed in late summer.

S.R. 125 Beechmont Bridge Connector/LMSRT - Intermittent, single-lane closures in either direction on S.R. 125 (Beechmont Avenue), between the S.R. 32 interchange and Beechmont Circle. In addition, restrictions are in effect on the ramp from S.R. 32 to S.R. 125 West, and traffic is being maintained with a temporary signal at the ramp where the merge lane has been closed. The project is scheduled to be completed by late summer of 2022.

S.R. 125 Bridge Rehabilitation - Between Berkshire Lane and Brachman Avenue, midway between S.R. 32 and Five Mile Road. Traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in either direction throughout construction. Berkshire Lane will be maintained by flaggers as needed during hours of operation. All work is scheduled for completion in late summer 2021.

U.S. 22 (Montgomery Road) Resurfacing - Between Stewart and Galbraith roads. Single-lane restrictions may be in effect between Stewart Road and the entrance to St. Vincent Ferrer School, just west of Kenwood Road, during daytime hours. Restrictions may be in effect between Kenwood and Galbraith roads during evening/overnight hours. Traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in either direction. The project is schedueld for completion in mid-fall.

U.S. 27 (Colerain Avenue) Sidewalk Construction - On the west side of Colerain Ave. between Byrneside Drive and Banning Road. Southbound Colerain Avenue will be reduced to one lane in the work zone; other intermittent restrictions may in effect in the northbound direction. Completion is scheduled for mid-summer 2021.

U.S. 42 (Reading Road) Bridge Rehabilitation - Over Cooper Creek, near Cooper Road and the Reading corporation limit. Lane restrictions will be in effect through mid-fall. Traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction.

U.S. 42 (Reading Road) Sidewalk Construction - On the west side of U.S. 42, between Sunnybrook Drive and the S.R. 126 East exit ramp. Traffic impacts should be minimal; however, traffic will be maintained in the work area.

U.S. 50/Martin Drive Bridge Repair - On eastbound U.S. 50 (Columbia Parkway) to Martin Drive. Intermittent lane restrictions in effect on Columbia Parkway, and the off-ramp to Martin Drive is closed through early September. Additional ramp restrictions from I-471 and Eggleston Avenue to Columbia Parkway will be in effect as well. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall.
