MARION COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF AUGUST 8, 2021

DELAWARE, Ohio (Thursday, August 5, 2021) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Marion County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

SR 309

State Route 309

CONTINUING IMPACTS

State Route 309 Resurfacing - SR 309 between the Hardin/Marion County line and Holland Rd. will have various daily lane restrictions (7 a.m. - 7 p.m.) starting Monday, May 31 through September 2021 for pavement repairs and resurfacing.

U.S. Route 23

U.S. Route 23 Bridge Deck Replacements - Replace existing concrete bridge decks on U.S. Route 23 over SR 98 and on U.S. Route 23 over Qu Qua Creek in Marion County. Estimated completion: June 2022

CONTINUING IMPACTS

The U.S. 23 southbound ramp to SR 98 will close starting Monday, July 26 until October 2021 for reconstruction. 

  • Detour: U.S. 23 southbound to SR 229 northbound to SR 47 northbound to SR 98. 

U.S. 23 northbound and southbound between SR 98 and Qu Qua Creek will reduce to one lane in both directions starting Monday, July 26. Southbound traffic will be shifted to the northbound side using median crossovers and one lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions. This traffic pattern will be in effect until October 2021. 

CONTINUING IMPACTS

SR 98 at U.S. 23 will have intermittent, daily lane restrictions (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.) starting Monday, July 12 through Friday, August 13.

U.S. Route 23 Resurfacing - Repair pavement and resurface U.S. 23 from SR 95 to the Marion/Wyandot County Line, including guardrail upgrades. Safety improvements at U.S. 23/Linn Hipsher Rd. intersection. Estimated completion: Fall 2021

NEW IMPACTS

The following ramps will be closing at various times for resurfacing. Message boards will be posted with specific detour information for drivers. 

  • The U.S. 23 southbound ramp to SR 95 will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Sunday, August 8 through Saturday, August 14. 
    • Detour: SR 309 to SR 423 to SR 95.
  • The U.S. 23 northbound ramp to SR 95 will close daily (7 a.m. - 7 p.m.) starting Sunday, August 8 through Saturday, August 14. 
    • Detour: SR 309 to U.S. 23 southbound to SR 95.
  • The SR 95 ramp to U.S. 23 southbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Sunday, August 8 through Saturday, August 14. 
    • Detour: SR 529 to SR 98 to U.S. 23 southbound.
  • The SR 95 ramp to U.S. 23 northbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Sunday, August 8 through Saturday, August 14. 
    • Detour: SR 529 to SR 98 to U.S. 23 northbound.
  • The U.S. 23 southbound ramp to SR 309 will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Sunday, August 8 through Sunday, August 15. 
    • Detour: Marion-Williamsport Rd. to SR 423 to SR 309.
  • The U.S. 23 northbound ramp to SR 309 will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Sunday, August 8 through Sunday, August 15. 
    • Detour: Marion-Williamsport Rd. to SR 423 to SR 309.
  • The SR 309 ramp to U.S. 23 southbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Sunday, August 8 through Sunday, August 15. 
    • Detour: SR 309 to SR 423 to Marion-Williamsport Rd. to U.S. 23.
  • The SR 309 ramp to U.S. 23 northbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Sunday, August 8 through Sunday, August 15. 
    • Detour: SR 309 to SR 423 to Marion-Williamsport Rd. to U.S. 23.
  • The U.S. 23 southbound ramp to Marion-Williamsport Rd. will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Tuesday, August 10 through Monday, August 16. 
    • Detour: U.S. 23 to SR 4 to Marion-Williamsport Rd. 
  • The U.S. 23 northbound ramp to Marion-Williamsport Rd. will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Tuesday, August 10 through Monday, August 16. 
    • Detour: U.S. 23 to SR 4 to Marion-Williamsport Rd. 
  • The Marion-Williamsport Rd. ramp to U.S. 23 southbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Tuesday, August 10 through Monday, August 16. 
    • Detour: Marion-Williamsport Rd. to SR 4 to U.S. 23.
  • The Marion-Williamsport Rd. ramp to U.S. 23 northbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Tuesday, August 10 through Monday, August 16. 
    • Detour: Marion-Williamsport Rd. to SR 4 to U.S. 23.
  • The U.S. 23 southbound ramp to SR 4 will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Thursday, August 12 through Wednesday, August 18. 
    • Detour: U.S. 23 to SR 231 to SR 423 to SR 4. 
  • The U.S. 23 northbound ramp to SR 4 will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Thursday, August 12 through Wednesday, August 18.
    • Detour: U.S. 23 to SR 231 to SR 423 to SR 4. 
  • The SR 4 ramp to U.S. 23 southbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Thursday, August 12 through Wednesday, August 18. 
    • Detour: SR 4 to Marion-Williamsport Rd. to U.S. 23.
  • The SR 4 ramp to U.S. 23 northbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Thursday, August 12 through Wednesday, August 18. 
    • Detour: SR 4 to Marion-Williamsport Rd. to U.S. 23.
  • The U.S. 23 southbound ramp to SR 231 will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Thursday, August 12 through Thursday, August 19. 
    • Detour: U.S. 23 to SR 294 to SR 231.
  • The U.S. 23 northbound ramp to SR 231 will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Thursday, August 12 through Thursday, August 19. 
    • Detour: U.S. 23 to SR 294 to SR 231.
  • The SR 231 ramp to U.S. 23 southbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Thursday, August 12 through Thursday, August 19. 
    • Detour: SR 231 to SR 423 to Marion-Williamsport Rd. to U.S. 23.
  • The SR 231 ramp to U.S. 23 northbound will close daily (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) starting Thursday, August 12 through Thursday, August 19.
