Temporary Restrictions Planned For I-275;

Schedule Change For Weller Road Bridge Closure

Hamilton County (Friday, July 23, 2021) – With a bridge repair project on Weller Road over Interstate 275 set to begin, nighttime restrictions will be in place on the interstate next week for crews to place falsework under the bridge.

On Tuesday, July 27, I-275 West will be reduced to one lane beginning at 8 p.m., followed by a double-lane closure at 10 p.m. Then, on Wednesday, July 28, the far left (fast) lane will be closed in the westbound direction at 8 p.m., followed by the far left lane in the eastbound direction at 9 p.m. And on Thursday and Friday, July 29 and 30, single-lane restrictions will be in effect on eastbound I-275 beginning at 8 p.m., followed by a double-lane closure at 10 p.m. each night. The nighttime restrictions in either direction will be lifted by 6 a.m. the following day.

Weller Road will then be closed over I-275, between Bridgewater Lane and Indian Woods/Weller Woods Drive, on Monday, August 2. This is a revised schedule from the previously-announced closure date of July 26.

The closure will be in effect for up to 120 days for crews to replace the bridge deck and install a sidewalk on the overpass structure, and while Weller Road is closed, traffic will be detoured by way of Weil Road, Kemper Road and U.S. Route 22 (Montgomery Road).

Once work is complete on Weller Road, crews will move to the Cornell Road overpass to replace barriers and add a sidewalk on this structure. Although a start date on Cornell Road has yet to be determined, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals during construction.

Complete General Construction Co. was awarded a contract for approximately $5.2 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by July 2022.
