New Entrance Ramp to I-70 East

Fulton Street Ramp to Open by 5 a.m. Monday

Starting Monday morning, the new entrance ramp from Fulton Street to I-70 east in downtown Columbus will be open to traffic. This marks a major milestone for this phase of ODOT's Downtown Ramp Up project to reconstruct I-70 east and reconfigure ramps at the I-70/71 east split.

  • Next week, drivers will be able to access the new two-lane ramp by taking 4th St. or Grant Ave. to eastbound Fulton St. (see graphic below).
  • Motorists will also notice a new traffic signal at the intersection of Grant Ave. and Fulton St. and should be prepared to stop.
  • By the end of the month, the section of Fulton St. between High St. and 4th St. (currently westbound-only) will switch directions, becoming eastbound-only for streamlined access to the interstate from the downtown area.

This $82 million phase of the project is expected to wrap up in November, weather permitting. Please note, the ramp from Fulton St. to I-71 north shown below will not open as part of this project. Instead, it will open as part of a future phase of work in several years.
