SUMMIT COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF JUNE 7

AKRON, Ohio (Thursday, June 3, 2021) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Summit County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

I-76_small

    I-76/I-77 Akron Beltway project

Interstate 76/77 Akron Beltway reconstruction, Akron – reconstruction of I-76/I-77 between Princeton Ave. to V. Odom Blvd., I-77 between Cole Ave. and Waterloo Rd., and at State Route 8/I-76/I-77 Central Interchange.
NEW IMPACTS - Beginning Friday evening, June 4, at 10 p.m. the following lane restriction and ramps closures will be in place through mid-August:

  • I-77 south to I-76/Kenmore Leg. The detour will be I-76 eastbound to I-77 southbound to I-277 westbound to I-76 westbound.  (Alternate Route: I-77 southbound to SR-21 southbound to I-76)
  • Odom Blvd. to I-77 southbound. The detour will be Romig Road to State Street to I-76/U.S. 224 eastbound to I-277 to I-77
  • I-76/U.S. 224 eastbound ramp to I-76/Kenmore Leg. The detour will be I-277 eastbound to I-77 northbound to I-76.
  • I-277 westbound to I-76/Kenmore Leg.  The detour will be I-77 northbound to I-76. (Alternate route I-76 westbound to State Route 21 northbound to I-77).
  • Kenmore Blvd. to I-76/Kenmore Leg. The detour will be Wooster Road to State Street to I-76.
  • I-77 southbound between V. Odom Blvd. and East Ave. will be reduced to two lanes

NEW IMPACTS - Beginning Sunday evening, June 6, at 10 p.m. the following lane restriction and ramp closures will be in place through mid-August:

  • The I-76/I-77 westbound ramp to I-76/Kenmore Leg. The detour will be I-77 southbound to I-277 westbound to I-76 westbound.
  • 22nd to I-76/Kenmore Leg. The detour will be 22nd St. to Kenmore Blvd. to East Ave. to I-76 West.
  • I-77 northbound between V. Odom Blvd. and East Ave. will be reduced to two lanes.

NEW IMPACT – Beginning on Tuesday evening, June 8, State Route 8 between Carroll St. and LaFollette St. will have various lane restrictions through mid-August.

SR 8

     State Route 8 project

State Route 8 reconstruction in Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Hudson & Boston Heights – complete pavement replacement on State Route 8 between Graham Rd. and State Route 303. Estimated completion, July 2022.
NEW IMPACTS – The following ramp closures are scheduled to occur:

  • On Monday, June 7, the ramp from State Route 8 southbound to Seasons Rd. will be CLOSED through early July. The detour will be State Route 8 to Steels Corners Rd. to Hudson Dr. to Seasons Rd.
  • On Monday, June 7, the ramp from Seasons Rd. to State Route 8 southbound will be CLOSED. The detour will be Seasons Rd. to Hudson Rd.
  • Beginning on Monday, June 7, the ramp from State Route 8 southbound to Graham Rd. will be CLOSED through early July. The detour will be Steels Corners Rd. to Wyoga Lake Rd. to Graham Rd.
  • The ramp from State Route 8 southbound to State Route 303 is closed through Monday morning, June 7 at 8 a.m. The detour is Hines Hill Rd. to Dean Memorial Parkway to Boston Mills Rd. to Chittenden Rd. to State Route 303.
  • The ramp from State Route 303 to State Route 8 southbound is closed through Monday morning, June 7 at 8 a.m. The detour is Terex Rd. to Hudson Drive to Seasons Rd. to State Route 8.
  • Hudson Dr. under State Route 8 is CLOSED through mid-July for bridge construction. The detour is Graham Rd. to Wyoga Lake to Steels Corners to Hudson Dr.
  • State Route 8 southbound traffic is split into two separate lanes. The left lane will be crossed over onto State Route 8 northbound, while the right lane will use the State Route 8 southbound median lane. Motorists wishing to exit State Route 8 southbound at Graham Rd., Seasons Rs., Steels Corners Rd. or SR 303 need to remain in the right lane.

State Route 91, U.S. 224 & Canton Rd. widening and safety improvements, Lakemore & Springfield Township
NEW IMPACTS – Beginning on Monday, June 7, the following restrictions and closures will occur:

  • U.S. 224 between E. Park Way and Ewart Rd. will be reduced to one lane in each direction through late fall 2021.
  • The northbound Canton Rd. right turn lane to U.S. 224 east will be closed through mid-July 2021. The detour will be Canton Rd. to the Linwood Rd. turnaround to Canton Rd. southbound to U.S. 224.
  • The U.S. 224 westbound left turn lane to Canton Rd. south will be closed through mid-July 2021. The detour will be Canton Rd. northbound to Linwood Rd. turnaround to Canton Rd. south.
