State Route 43 Drainage Improvement Project Canton Township, Stark County

ODOT Project No. STA SR 0043 09.08 Drainage (PID: 108521)

AKRON - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) proposes to reconstruct storm drainage on State Route 43 (Waynesburg Drive SE) at Amford Street SE in Canton Township, Stark County, Ohio.  The project will replace the existing State Route 43 storm drainage system with a new enclosed storm drainage system.

A minimum of one bi-directional lane will be maintained on State Route 43 with the exception short duration closures needed to construct the project. Installation of new cross storm conduits will require closure of State Route 43 at Amford Street SE for a maximum duration of three consecutive days per closure.  A minimum of two separate closures will be required to construct the project. A detour route will be posted for State Route 43 utilizing U.S. Route 30 and State Route 44. Detour routes will also be posted for local Amford Street SE traffic. Construction, lane restriction, closure and detour information will be posted prior to the start of construction and this information will updated and posted prior any change in construction phase/travel pattern during the duration of the project. Access shall be maintained to all adjacent properties, businesses and intersecting side streets for the duration of the project. Substantial traffic disruptions are not expected with the project.

The project is in preliminary project design. Construction work is scheduled to begin and be completed in 2022. Total project construction cost is $550,000.

The proposed project will not result in any substantial impacts to environmental resources. The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding, dated June 6, 2018, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
