Watson Road Slide Repair Project

Chillicothe (Thursday, December 10, 2020) – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation—District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for bridge replacement project on C.R. 50 (Watson Road) in Pike County.

PIK-CR 50-3.32 (PID: 108129) - It is proposed to perform a landslide remediation project on CR 50 at the 3.32 mile mark in Pike County.

The project includes pavement repair, construction of a retailing wall and the replacement of a 30” corrugated metal pipe (CMP) culvert. The project is located in a rural area of Jackson Township.

The project will require approximately 0.203 acres of permanent right-of-way. The permanent right-of-way is located along a forested hillside.

No homes or businesses will be removed by the project.

The roadway will be closed for the duration of the project.

The local detour will be CR 50 (Watson Rd.) to CR 55 (Hay Hollow Rd.) to TR 516 (Hickson Run Rd.) to CR 207 (Watson Rd). The local detour is approximately 7 miles.

The funding for the project is 80% Federal and 20% Local. The environmental commitment date is 3/26/2021. The project is currently expected to be awarded 4/25/2022.
