BROWN COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 21

Chillicothe, Ohio (Thursday, September 17, 2020) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Brown County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

U.S. 52

U.S. 52 slide repair – U.S. 52 will be reduced to one, 10.5 foot lane between Logan Gap Road and Three Mile Creek Road, west of Aberdeen starting August 10. Traffic will be maintained using temporary signals. Estimated completion: Fall 2020.

State Route 32 turn lane at Sardinia-Mowrystown Road – State Route 32 traffic will be shifted at the intersection with Sardinia-Mowrystown Road to install turning lanes at the intersection. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained on state Route 32 throughout construction. There will be a 45 day median closure as part of this construction, with the Sardinia-Mowrystown Road/state Route 32 intersection converted to right-in/right-out movements during this time.

Sardinia-Mowrystown Road Southbound Detour: Take state Route 32 westbound to Purdy Road, U-turn to state Route 32 eastbound to Sardinia-Mowrystown Road.

Sardinia-Mowrystown Road Northbound Detour: Take state Route 32 to Steiman Road, U-turn to state Route 32 westbound to Sardinia-Mowrystown Road.

Estimated completion: Fall 2020

County Road 76 bridge replacement – Main Street (Purdy Road) in the village of Sardinia will be closed for 120 days starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 6. The closure is located at the bridge over White Oak Creek, between Pershing Road and Bachman Drive.

Purdy Road Northbound Detour: Take Winchester Street/Tri-County Highway to Steiman Road to state Route 32 westbound.

Purdy Road Southbound Detour: Take state Route 32 eastbound to Sardinia-Mowrystown Road.

Estimated completion: Fall 2020

Skiffsville Road bridge replacement – Skiffsville Road will be closed for 90 days over Bullskin Creek near the Clermont County line starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 27. Traffic will be detoured via state Route 505, state Route 756, and Felicity-Higginsport Road. Estimated completion: Fall 2020.

State Route 763 culvert replacement – state Route 763 will be closed for 45 days between Stringtown Road and Lawwill Road starting at 7 a.m. on July 20. Traffic will be detoured via state Route 41, state Route 136, and state Route 125. Estimated completion: Fall 2020.

State Route 221 erosion control – state Route 221 will experience shoulder closures and intermittent lane restrictions for erosion control work at various bridges along the route starting July 13. Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal but will be maintained using flaggers as needed. Estimated completion: Fall 2020

State Route 125 bridge replacement at Georgetown - The bridge is located between Old Infirmary Road and Hillcrest Drive, immediately west of the village, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one, 10-foot lane in each direction. Estimated completion: Fall 2020
