ROSS COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 7

Chillicothe, Ohio (Thursday, September 3, 2020) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Ross County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

U.S. 23

U.S. 23 slide repair – U.S. 23 Northbound will be reduced to one, 12-foot lane between George Hollow Road and state Route 372 beginning at 7 a.m. on August 11. U.S. 23 southbound will be reduced to one, 12-foot lane daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of this construction. Estimated completion: Fall 2020.

U.S. 35

U.S. 35 resurfacing – U.S. 35 between U.S. 50 and Vigo Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction for this construction. Estimated completion: Summer 2020.

State Route 207 connector project – state Route 207 at the U.S. 23 interchange and Hospital Road will experience daily lane closures and restrictions. State Route 159 will be reduced to one lane in each direction north of Delano Road. Estimated completion: Fall 2020.

State Route 138/State Route 207 chip & seal – state Route 138 will be reduced to one lane daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. between state Route 28 and Austin Road, and state Route 207 between state Route 104 and the Pickaway County line starting Monday, July 6. Traffic will be maintained using flaggers. Estimated completion: Summer 2020

Ross County guardrail replacement – Starting Monday, June 22, there will be daily lane restrictions between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on various county roads throughout Ross County. Traffic will be maintained in one lane using temporary signals as needed. Estimated completion: Summer 2020.

U.S. 50 (Western Avenue) safety improvements - Work has resumed on a safety project to add turn lanes and improve signalization at Plyleys Lane and Western Avenue (U.S. 50) in the city of Chillicothe. Western Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Estimated completion: Summer 2020.

Tar Hollow chip & seal – There will be daily lane closures on various forest roads in Tar Hollow State Forest from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting June 15. Impacted roads include FR 3, 4, 10, and 16, as well as Horse Camp Road. Estimated completion: Summer 2020.
