BELMONT COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF AUGUST 10, 2020

New Philadelphia, Ohio (August 6, 2020) -The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Belmont County in the coming weeks. All outlined work is weather permitting.

U.S. Route 40 upcoming closure: Beginning Monday, August 17, U.S. Route 40 will close for four days east of St. Clairsville between Crosley Rd. and Chermont-Lansing Rd. for pavement repairs and drainage work. Detour: I-70 east to Marion Street (Exit 225) back to U.S. 40, and reverse.

The following projects are ongoing in Belmont County: 

I-70 Project WVDOH I-70 bridge replacement project: Work will take place along I-70 between Marion St. and the Ohio/West Virginia state line. East and westbound traffic restricted to one, 12' lane via crossovers. This work is part of the West Virginia Department of Highway's I-70 corridor project. State Route 147 slide repair: Located one mile east of SR 655. Traffic maintained via temporary traffic signals and 11-foot width restriction. Completion date: May 31, 2021.

State Route 149 to close for two weeks: SR 149 is closed two miles east of Belmont for ODOT crews to replace a culvert. Detour:  SR 147 east to SR 9, SR 9 north back to SR 149, and reverse. Completion date: Friday, August 14

State Route 647 slide repair project: SR 647 is closed for 30 days just west of the State Route 647/ County Road 4 intersection for a slide repair project. Detour: SR 150 east to SR 7, SR 7 south back to SR 647, and reverse. Completion date for all work on this project: October 31, 2020.

U.S. 250 slide repair project: located between Beretta Drive and Beeson Lane. During this work, one lane of traffic will be maintained via temporary traffic signals with a 11-foot width restriction. Completion date: September 15, 2020.

State Route 9 closed north of St. Claisville: 34-day closure of SR 9, one mile north of St. Clairsville for a culvert replacement project. Completion date for all work on this project: September 30, 2020.

SR 148 slide repair project: SR 148 restricted east of Armstrong Mills between Ramsey Ridge Road and Clover Ridge Road. Traffic maintained via temporary traffic signals. Completion date: September 30, 2020.
