ALLEN COUNTY: Highway construction update

Week of August 10, 2020

LIMA, Ohio (Thursday, August 6, 2020) The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Allen County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

INTERSTATE 75 PROJECTS

Interstate 75 between Napoleon Road and state Route 235, just south of the village of Beaverdam to three miles north of the village of Bluffton, in Allen and Hancock counties, will experience lane restrictions and ramp closures for paving and reconstruction through November 2020. NEW IMPACT

  • Beginning Aug. 7, northbound passing lane at SR 696, Beaverdam, will be shifted to the southbound side.
  • SR 696 exit ramp from I-75 northbound will close August 11 for five days for a culvert replacement.
    • Detour:­­­­­­­­­­­ I-75 northbound to SR 103/Bentley Rd. to I-75 southbound back to SR 696 (see map).

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • Beginning Aug. 4, both lanes of I-75 southbound at SR 696, Beaverdam, will be shifted onto new pavement.
  • Nighttime lane restrictions, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m., resumed on July 19 and will continue for approximately two months for paving operations.

 

 

Interstate 75, both directions, in the city of Lima between 4th Street and State Route 81, will have lane restrictions from 4 a.m. to noon, Monday – Friday, beginning August 10 and continuing for approximately three weeks for pavement repairs.

U.S. 30 PROJECTS

 

 

U.S. 30 both eastbound and westbound, between State Route 65 near Lima and State Route 696 at Beaverdam will be restricted to one lane through the work zone at various locations for pavement repair. Work is being performed by Allen County.

 


 

State Route 65/Elm Street and Pine Street at their intersection in the city of Lima closed June 1 for replacement of the bridges over the Ottawa River. Completion is expected in late fall. The work will be performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold.  Visit the project page for more information.

CONTINUING IMPACT

  • Elm Street and Pine Street intersection is open following a closure for beam removal and beam setting. Temporary restrictions may occur as needed.
  • Elm Street and Pine Street are closed at the bridges at the intersection.
    • Eastbound detour: Central Avenue to Market Street to Bellefontaine Avenue (SR 309/SR 117).
    • Westbound detour: Bellefontaine Avenue (SR 309/ SR 117) to Market Street to S. Union Street.

 

 

State Route 117 (Shawnee Road) between Garden Boulevard and Cable Road, in the city of Lima, a bridge maintenance and repair project is delayed. Reopening is expected on approximately August 18. Complete General Construction Co., Columbus, will be the general contractor.

CONTINUING IMPACT

  • Detour: Eastown Road to Elm Street to Woodlawn Avenue (SR 117) (see map).
