SUMMIT COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF AUGUST 3

AKRON, Ohio (Thursday, July 30, 2020) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Summit County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

I-76_large

   Interstate 76 projects

Interstate 76 & Main Street reconstruction, Akron – reconstruction of the I-76/Main St./Broadway St. interchange. Project includes new pavement on I-76 from just west of State Route 8 to State Route 59. Estimated completion, September 2020.
NEW IMPACTS
Beginning on Sunday night, August 2 and continuing through Wednesday morning, August 5, the following ramps will be closed while I-76 is resurfaced. These closures will occur nightly between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.:

  • State Route 8 southbound to I-76 westbound. The detour will be I-77 southbound to I-277 westbound to I-76/Kenmore Leg eastbound.
  • I-77 northbound to I-76 westbound. The detour will be I-76 eastbound to Ingram St. to I-76 westbound.

Interstate 76 widening and reconstruction, Akron & Barberton – reconfiguration of I-76/Wooster Rd./State St. interchange to improve traffic. Project also includes widening of I-76 between Summit Rd. and 27th St. Estimated completion, summer 2022.

NEW IMPACTS -On Friday July 31, at 8 p.m. through Saturday, August 1, at 12 p.m., State Route 619/Wooster Rd. under I-76 will be closed for bridge removal. The detours will be Wooster Rd Northbound – State Street to I-76 eastbound to Kenmore Blvd to Wooster Rd. Wooster Rd Southbound – Kenmore Blvd. to I-76 westbound to Barber Rd. to I-76 eastbound to State St. to Wooster Rd.

 

SR 8

    State Route 8 projects

State Route 8 reconstruction in Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Hudson & Boston Heights – complete pavement replacement on State Route 8 between Graham Rd. and State Route 303. Estimated completion, July 2022.
NEW IMPACT

  • The ramp from State Route 303 to State Route 8 north will be closed beginning Monday, August 3 through Monday, August 10 for ramp reconstruction. The detour will be State Route 303 to Boston Mills Rd. to Dean Memorial Parkway to Hines Hill Rd. to State Route 8.

State Route 91, U.S. 224 & Canton Rd. widening and safety improvements, Lakemore & Springfield Township
NEW IMPACTS – Springfield Lake Rd. at State Route 91 will be closed beginning Friday, July 31 through Friday, August 7. The detour will be Calvin St. to Springfield Lake Drive.
CONTINUING IMPACTS - Canton Rd. between the Lakemore Shopping Plaza and Arcadia Rd. and State Route 91 between Old Home Rd. and Russet Lane. Is reduced to one lane. Estimated completion, October 2021.
