SUMMIT COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF JULY 27

AKRON, Ohio (Thursday, July 23, 2020) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Summit County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

Interstate 76 projects

Interstate 76 bridge repairs, Norton
NEW IMPACTS

• The ramp from I-76 eastbound to State Route 21 northbound will be closed on Thursday, July 23 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for bridge repairs. The detour will be I-76 eastbound to Cleveland Massillon Rd. to I-76 westbound to State Route 21.
• The ramp from State Route 21 southbound to I-76 eastbound will be closed on Thursday, July 23, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for bridge repairs. The detour will be State Route 21 southbound to State Route 585 to State Route 21 northbound to I-76 eastbound.
• The ramp from State Route 21 northbound to I-76 westbound will be closed on Friday, July 24, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for bridge repairs. The detour will be State Route 21 northbound to State Route 261 to State Route 21 southbound to I-76 westbound.
• The ramp from I-76 westbound to State Route 21 southbound will be closed on Friday, July 24 between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for bridge repairs. The detour will be I-76 westbound to State Route 21 northbound to State Route 261 to State Route 21 southbound.

State Route 8 projects

State Route 8 reconstruction in Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Hudson & Boston Heights – complete pavement replacement on State Route 8 between Graham Rd. and State Route 303. Estimated completion, July 2022.

NEW IMPACT

The following lane restriction and ramp closures will be in place on Thursday evening, July 23, from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m.

• State Route 8 northbound will be reduced to one lane
• The SR 8 northbound ramps at Steels Corners, Season’s Rd. and State Route 303 will be CLOSED. The detour will be State Route 8 northbound to Boston Mills Rd. to State Route 8 southbound.

State Route 91, U.S. 224 & Canton Rd. widening and safety improvements, Lakemore & Springfield Township
NEW IMPACTS – Springfield Lake Rd. at State Route 91 will be closed beginning Friday, July 31 through Friday, August 7. The detour will be Calvin St. to Springfield Lake Drive.
CONTINUING IMPACTS - Canton Rd. between the Lakemore Shopping Plaza and Arcadia Rd. and State Route 91 between Old Home Rd. and Russet Lane. Is reduced to one lane. Estimated completion, October 2021.
