SUMMIT COUNTY: Weekly Construction Update

WEEK OF JUNE 8

AKRON, Ohio (Thursday, June 4) - The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Summit County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

I-76

interstate 76 projects

Interstate 76 widening and reconstruction, Akron & Barberton – reconfiguration of I-76/Wooster Rd./State St. interchange to improve traffic. Project also includes widening of I-76 between Summit Rd. and 27th St. Estimated completion, summer 2022.

NEW IMPACTS

The following ramp closures will occur:

  • The ramp from State Route 619/Wooster Rd. to I-76 eastbound will be closed beginning Monday, June 8 through early July. The detour will be East Ave. to Kenmore Blvd. to I-76 eastbound.
  • The ramp from State St. to I-76 westbound will be closed Friday evening, June 12 at 7 p.m. through Monday morning, June 15, at 6 a.m. The detours will be State St. northbound - Romig Rd. to State Route 261 westbound to I-76. State St. southbound - Wooster Rd. to Hopocan Ave. to Barber Rd. to I-76.

 

Interstate 76 pavement repairs, Akron & Tallmadge
NEW IMPACTS - I-76 between Gilchrist Rd. and Tallmadge Rd. will have various nightly lane restrictions beginning Wednesday evening, June 10. These restrictions will occur nightly between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Estimated completion, late June 2020.

SR 8

State Route 8 projects

State Route 8 reconstruction in Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Hudson & Boston Heights – complete pavement replacement on State Route 8 between Graham Rd. and State Route 303. Estimated completion, July 2022.

NEW IMPACTS – The ramp from State Route 8 northbound to State Route 303 will close NIGHTLY between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., beginning Friday evening, June 5 through Friday morning, June 12 for bridge painting. The detour will be State Route 8 to Boston Mills Rd. to Chittenden Rd. to State Route 303.
