Lane Restrictions Scheduled for U.S. 22 in Montgomery
Hamilton County (Tuesday, April 14, 2020) - Single-lane restrictions will go into effect this week on U.S. Route 22 (Montgomery Road) in the city of Montgomery as part of the Montgomery Quarter redevelopment project and construction of a roundabout at Montgomery Road and the Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway.
Contractors will reduce northbound Montgomery Road to one lane between the Cross County Highway overpass and Main Street in Montgomery. The restriction will go into effect at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 16, and it is anticipated to be in place through mid-May.
While Montgomery Road will be reduced to one lane in the northbound direction through the work zone, motorists will have access to Main Street, and southbound traffic should not be affected by the restriction. Arrow boards and/or signs will alert motorists of the work zone.
Though it was not scheduled originally to be in effect during the first phase of the project, the single-lane closure on Montgomery Road is being imparted due to the lower traffic volumes which will allow the contractor to perform curb removal, excavation, and widening work along the east side of Montgomery Road more safely and efficiently.
The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $7.3 million to build the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2021.
