ODOT District 3 Weekly Construction Report

For the Week of April 6

ASHLAND COUNTY
State Route 3 ***NEW***
SR 3, from the Village of Loudonville to the City of Wooster, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete September 2020. 

Interstate 71
I-71, just south of the US 250 interchange, will have daytime shoulder closures only as needed to complete culvert repairs. The project is expected to be complete October 2020.

State Route 511
SR 511, south of US 42 at the overpass bridge over I-71, will have the southbound lane closed for structure work. Traffic will be maintained by temporary traffic signal. I-71 southbound, just underneath the bridge, will the shoulder closed so that crews can work underneath the bridge. The project is expected to be complete October 2020.

 

CRAWFORD COUNTY
State Route 4
State Route 4, at the intersection of SR 4 and Irving Street, will be reduced to one lane for signal work. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete May 2020; however, all work is weather dependent and is subject to change. 

State Route 19: Resurfacing
SR 19, from Carey Road (CR 27) to SR 4, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete September 2020. 

State Route 19: Culvert Replacement
SR 19/SR 100, just south of Crestline Road, will close Monday, April 6 thru Tuesday, April 7, for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is northwest on SR 19 to SR 602, north on SR 602 to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 100, south on SR 100 to SR 19, and reverse for southbound motorists. SR 19, just north of Olentangy Road, will close Wednesday, April 8 thru Friday, April 10, for a culvert replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is south on SR 100 to SR 309/61, east on SR 309/61 to SR 19 and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to be reopened Friday, April 10, 2020. Note: The locations of each closure are different. The detour route(s) will be marked accordingly.

US Route 30
US 30 eastbound and westbound, from just east of SR 98 to Old Lincoln Way, will have single lane closures for bridge sealing work on structures on/over US 30. The project is expected to be complete August 2020. 

State Route 98 ***UPDATE***
SR 98, just south of US 30, is closed for railroad crossing repairs. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 98 southwest to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 19/100/4, south on SR 19/100/4 back to SR 98, and reverse for northbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete Wednesday, April 8, 2020. 

State Route 309/61 – City of Galion
SR 309/61 in the City of Galion, between N. East St. and Gelsanliter Rd., is closed for the City’s sanitary sewer project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 309/61 (Charles St.) to Gelsanliter Rd., south on Gelsanliter Rd. to SR 97 (Harding Way), west on SR 97 to SR 309/61 (N. East St.), and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen Monday, May 11, 2020. For more information contact the City of Galion Service Department at 419-468-2818.

 

ERIE COUNTY
Multiple Overpass Bridge Closure Over State Route 2 ***UPDATE***
The bridges listed below will close simultaneously Tuesday, April 7 as part of a bridge repair project. Please note the specific closure information for each location listed below:

  • County Road 140 (Joppa Road)
    • At the Joppa Road bridge over SR 2; between Frailey Road and Poorman Road
    • The detour route for northbound motorists is Joppa Road to Darrow Road, west on Darrow Road to Frailey Road, north on Frailey Road to US 6 (Cleveland Sandusky Road), east on US 6 to Joppa Road, and reverse for southbound motorists.
  • Township Road 121 (Camp Road)
    • At the Camp Road bridge over SR 2; between Galloway Road and Rye Beach Road
    • The detour route for northbound motorists is Camp Road to Boos Road, east on Boos Road to Rye Beach Road, north on Rye Beach Road to US 6, west on US 6 to Camp Road, and reverse for southbound motorists.
  • Township Road 135 (Hahn Road)
    • At the Hahn Road bridge over SR 2; between SR 61 and Frailey Road
    • The detour route for northbound motorists is Hahn Road to US 6, west on US 6 to SR 61, south on SR 61 to Darrow Road, east on Darrow Road to Hahn Road, and reverse for southbound motorists.

All of the bridges are expected to reopen on Thursday, May 21, 2020; however, all work is weather dependent and is subject to change.

 

HURON COUNTY
State Route 162
State Route 162, between Miller Road and Section Line Road, is closed for a bridge replacement project. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 162 to SR 99, south on SR 99 to US 224, west on US 224 to SR 4, north on SR 4 to SR 162, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete May 1, 2020.

 

LORAIN COUNTY
US Route 6: Bridge Repairs ***UPDATE***
US 6, between Washington Avenue and Arizona Avenue, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for bridge repairs on the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge. One lane of traffic for eastbound and westbound vehicular traffic will be maintained no the north side (westbound lanes) of the bridge. The south side (eastbound lanes) of the bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained on either the north or south sidewalk depending on the work and will be clearly marked. The entire project is expected to be complete August 2020. 

US Route 20: Major Widening ***UPDATE***
US 20, between Stoney Ridge Road and Lear Nagle Road, will have one lane of traffic maintained in each direction. The following are project updates for the upcoming week:

  • Stoney Ridge Road, at its intersection with US 20, is closed for 30 days. The work limits extend approximately 300 ft. north of the intersection. The detour for southbound motorists will be Mills Road east to SR 83 south and reverse for northbound motorists.
  • Crews on SR 83 will be grading for temporary and permanent pavement placement. Traffic on SR 83 will be shifted onto the temporary pavement, dedicated left turn lanes will be eliminated, and traffic signal timing will be changed accordingly.
  • Crews continue to remove and grade the pavement from the west end of the project to Jaycox Road.
  • Crews working on the French Creek culvert will begin to backfill the culvert.
  • The sidewalk, from Jaycox Road to Lear Nagle Road, continues to be formed and poured
  • Pavement removal work continues on Stoney Ridge Road, SR 83, and Emerald Street. Traffic on Emerald Street will be shifted onto temporary pavement.
  • Crews continue to install underdrains located on the west end of the project to Jaycox Road
  • Temporary concrete pavement will be removed from Jaycox to Lear Nagle Road
  • Asphalt pavement on Stoney Ridge Road and Olive Avenue will begin

To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing by the work zone. Pedestrians and bicyclists should use extreme caution while traveling through the work zone and stay out of the active work area to avoid conflicts with construction vehicles and equipment. The project is expected to be complete Fall of 2020; however, all work is weather dependent and is subject to change. 

US Route 20: Bridge Replacement
US 20 over Ridgeway Ditch, between Case Rd. and Fowlers Run, will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for a bridge replacement project. The project is expected to be complete May 2020. 

US Route 20: Roadway Improvement
US 20, at the intersections of Cleveland Street/South Abbe Road and Cleveland Street/SR 57, will have single lane closures as needed as crews continue to work on traffic signal replacements at the two intersections in the City of Elyria. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers during the short-term lane closures for the construction of the traffic signals. The project is expected to be complete April 2020. 

County Road 53 (West Ridge Road)
CR 53 West Ridge Road, between Dellfield Road and CR 32 Middle Ridge Road, is closed to northbound traffic ONLY for signalization and resurfacing work. Traffic on Middle Ridge Road will be maintained. The detour route will be south on CR 53 West Ridge Road, west on Telegraph Road/Milan Elyria Road, north on Oberlin Road, east on CR 32 Middle Ridge Road. Southbound traffic on West Ridge Road will be maintained. The project is expected to be complete Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

State Route 254
SR 254 in the Village of Sheffield will have a shoulder closure adjacent to the eastbound right turn lane at the intersection of SR 301. Crews will be completing storm sewer installation, excavation, aggregate base, and preparing for curb installation. The project is expected to be complete June 2020.

State Route 301
SR 301, from SR 254 to Walker Road, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete by June 2020.

 

MEDINA COUNTY
North Carpenter Road
North Carpenter Road, between Grafton Road and Boston Road, is closed for approximately 120 days in order to complete pavement widening, storm sewer work, and other miscellaneous work on the project. During the closure, only northbound traffic will be maintained for local traffic only. All southbound traffic and non-local northbound traffic, between Grafton Road and Boston Road, will be required to use the detour. The detours are as follows:

  • Southbound traffic will be detoured east on Boston Road to West 130th Street, south on West 130th Street to Grafton Road, and west on Grafton Road back to North Carpenter Road.
  • Northbound, non-local traffic will be detoured east on Grafton Road to West 130th Street, north on West 130th Street to Boston Road, and west on Boston Road back to North Carpenter Road.

North Carpenter Road, between Concord Drive and Grafton Road, will continue to have intermittent single lane closures in order to complete miscellaneous work items. Bi-directional traffic will be maintained by flaggers within this section during this time. The entire project is expected to be complete September 2020.

US Route 224 ***UPDATE***
US 224 eastbound and westbound, just past Lake Road before the I-71 ramps, will have single lane closures to complete drainage work in the medians and outside shoulders. US 224 at the Leroy Road intersection will close Monday, April 13 for intersection improvements for the installation of left turn lanes. The detour route for motorists headed southbound on Leroy Road will proceed west on US 224 to the U-turn, then east on US 224 to Leroy Road south. The detour route for motorists headed northbound on Leroy road will proceed east on Greenwich Road to Lake Road, north on Lake Road to US 224, west on US 224 to Leroy Road north. This closure is expected to be complete Monday, April 27, 2020. Traffic in the driving lanes in either direction will be maintained at the normal lane width (12’) at all times. The entire project is expected to be complete August 2020.

 

RICHLAND COUNTY
Interstate 71
I-71 northbound and southbound, from the Morrow County line to SR 97, will have single lane, day time closures and double lane, night time closures for a resurfacing project. Crews continue night work for pavement repairs in the passing and middle lanes on I-71 from the Morrow/Richland County line to the SR 13 exit. Pavement repairs will begin in both zones simultaneously. The project is expected to be complete October 2020.

 

WAYNE COUNTY
There are currently no active construction projects or road closures in Wayne County.
