ODOT Seeking Public Input on Rocky River Slope Repairs under I-90, I-480 and SR 10.
GARFIELD HEIGHTS (Monday, November 18, 2019) - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is proposing to repair the eroded slope along the Rocky River underneath I-90, I-480, and SR 10 (Lorain Road) in the Cities of Rocky River, Lakewood, Fairview Heights, and Cleveland.
The project will not affect traffic on these roadways. However, short term closures on Valley Parkway, Valley Parkway Multi-Purpose Trail, and a Metroparks’ bridle path will be required to access the slopes with construction equipment. Detours for vehicular traffic and trail/path users will be provided during construction.
Areas of the Rocky River Reservation have been enhanced through the Land & Water Conservation Fund Program and public input is required before the park property can be utilized to perform the slope repairs. Since the slope erosion is located on park property, there is no alternative to repair the slope without entering onto Metroparks property. The Cleveland Metroparks have concurred with the project scope and the measures to minimize harm to public park property. Cleveland Metroparks has issued an access permit for ODOT to perform the work.
The proposed project will not result in any substantial impacts to environmental resources. The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding, dated June 6, 2018, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
This transportation improvement is scheduled for construction in May of 2020. Detailed project schedule information will be released in Spring 2020. The estimated construction cost is $3,350,000.
