ODOT District 3 Weekly Construction Report
For the week of August 26
LORAIN COUNTY
US Route 6: Bridge Repairs US 6, between Washington Ave. and Arizona Ave., will be reduced to one lane of traffic for bridge repairs on the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge. The westbound lanes and north sidewalk are closed. Traffic will be maintained in the eastbound lanes and pedestrian traffic will be maintained on the south sidewalk. Intermittent bridge lifts are scheduled as crews complete bridge work. The openings should not be any longer than those normally utilized to allow passage of a vessel. A sidewalk detour is posted for pedestrians. Specific project work can be found online at dot.state.oh.us/districts/D03/Pages/LOR-6-Charles-Berry-Bascule-Bridge0501-5976.aspx. The project is expected to be complete March 2020.
State Route 18 SR 18, from the Huron County Line to the Medina County line, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete October 2019; however, all work is weather dependent and is subject to change.
US Route 20: Major Widening ***UPDATE*** US 20, between Stoney Ridge Rd. and Lear Nagle Rd., will have one lane of traffic maintained in each direction. Root Rd. is now open to SOUTHBOUND traffic ONLY. Crews continue to work on installing the new sanitary system, underdrains, and storm sewers. Work to remove the remaining asphalt on Root Rd. still continues. The eastbound designated right turn lane on US 20, to SR 83 south, is closed to traffic. Motorists will still be able to make a righthand turn using the thru lane. Lanes widths throughout the project will be reduced to 10 ft. Three lanes of traffic will be maintained; one eastbound lane, one westbound lane and a center turn lane. To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing by the work zone. Pedestrians and bicyclists should use extreme caution while traveling through the work zone and stay out of the active work area to avoid conflicts with construction vehicles and equipment. The project is expected to be complete in the 2020 construction season . However, all work is weather dependent and is subject to change.
US Route 20: Roadway Improvement US 20, from SR 301 to Case Rd., will have intermittent lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained at all times; temporary work zones will be utilized when necessary. The project is expected to be complete April 2020.
US Route 20: Bridge Replacement US 20 over Ridgeway Ditch, between Case Rd. and Fowlers Run, will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for a bridge replacement project. The project is expected to be complete May 2020.
US Route 20: Micro-Surfacing US 20, Chestnut Ridge Rd. to Taylor St., will have single lane closures for a micro-surfacing project. The project is expected to be complete September 2019.
State Route 57: Micro-Surfacing SR 57, from Abbe Rd. to Lorain Blvd., will have single lane closures for a micro-surfacing project. The project is expected to be complete September 2019.
State Route 57 SR 57, from I-90 to SR 254, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. This project is within the City of Elyria. The project is expected to be complete September 2019.
State Route 83 SR 83, from Dunham Rd. to SR 303, will have daily lane closures for a micro-surfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete September 2019.
Interstate 90: Bridge Replacement I-90 westbound, at the I-90 structure over the SR 2 split, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a bridge replacement project. SR 2 eastbound is maintained with two lanes of traffic. Traffic will be maintained using a concrete barrier divide. The project is expected to be complete October 2019.
Interstate 90/State Route 83: Minor Widening I-90, at the SR 83 exit ramps and Chester Road, will have intermittent lane closures for installation of new traffic signals and highway lighting. Crews are working on sidewalk installations, final striping and miscellaneous punch list items. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. SR 83 exit ramps and I-90 traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete August 2019.
State Route 113 SR 113, from W. Ridge Rd. to SR 57, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. This project runs through the City of Elyria. The project is expected to be complete September 2019.
State Route 301 SR 301 (Abbe Rd.), south of US 6, is closed for a pavement replacement project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 301 to SR 611, east on SR 611 to I-90, east on I-90 to SR 83, north on SR 83 to US 6, west on US 6 to SR 301, and reverse for southbound motorists. The entire project is expected to be complete May 2020.
State Route 301 ***NEW*** SR 301, between Hilliard Rd. and Whitman Blvd., will close Monday, August 26, for an open trenching sewer installation. The detour for southbound motorists is SR 301 to SR 254, west on SR 254 to SR 57, south on SR 57 back to SR 301, and reverse for northbound motorists. Weather permitting, the closure is expected to last 90 days. This closure is a part of the City of Elyria’s Abby Rd. project. State Route 511: Resurfacing Project SR 511, from the Ashland County line to US 20, will be reduced to one of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete September 2019.
State Route 511: Culvert Replacement ***NEW*** SR 511, between the Ashland County line and SR 162, will close Monday, August 26 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 511 to US 224, east on US 224 to SR 58, north on SR 58 to SR 162, west on SR 162 to SR 511, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
