Weekend Traffic Impacts for I-70/71

Saturday Night to Monday Morning

 

Clarification: I-70 west will only be closed overnight Sunday, not Saturday night as originally stated. I-71 SOUTH will close Saturday night until Monday morning.

Progress is underway on the latest phase of the I-70/71 Columbus Crossroads project.

Starting Monday morning, I-71 south/I-70 west traffic will be shifted over to new pavement on the far right. For I-71 south traffic, that means additional lane changes to the left to continue south towards Grove City. Traffic coming from Miller/Kelton and points east will also have to change lanes to continue on I-70 west.

To make this change, I-71 south will be closed Saturday night through Monday morning and I-70 west will close overnight Sunday. More information about the closures including detour routes is listed below.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17

I-71 between I-670 and I-70

  • 7 PM SATURDAY: The following ramps will close.
    • Cleveland Ave. to I-71 SB
      Detour: Take Cleveland Ave. to I-71 NB to 11th Ave. to I-71 SB
    • Broad St. to I-71 SB
      Detour: Take Broad St. to I-71 NB to 11th Ave. to I-71 SB
  • 8 PM: I-71 SB will be reduced to two lanes between Broad St. and I-70 and CLOSED at I-70. The ramp from I-670 EB to I-71 SB will also close.

    • I-71 SB Detour: I-71 SB to I-670 WB to SR 315 SB to I-70 WB or I-71 SB
    • Ramp Detour: I-670 EB to I-71 NB to 11th Ave. to I-71 SB
    • NOTE: Access from I-71 SB to I-70 EB will be maintained
  • 5 AM MONDAY: All lanes and ramps open

SUNDAY, AUGUST 18

I-70 between Ohio Ave. and 3rd St.

  • 9 PM SUNDAY: I-70 WB reduced to two lanes between Miller/Kelton Ave. and I-71
  • 10 PM: I-70 WB will reduce to one lane between Miller/Kelton Ave. and I-71
  • 11 PM: I-70 WB will close between Ohio Ave. and 3rd St.
    • Detour: Take I-70 WB to I-71 NB to I-670 WB to SR 315 SB to I-70 WB
  • 5 AM MONDAY: All lanes and ramps open
