Comment Period Open For S.R. 348 Bridge Replacement

Chillicothe – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for a bridge replacement project on state Route 348 in Scioto County.

SCI-348-9.41 (PID: 104881) - The proposed project is to replace the structure on Ohio-348 at the 9.41-mile marker, between C.R. 35 (Mt. Hope Road) and C.R. 44 (Henley-Comstock Road), three miles east of the village of Otway. Built in 1940, the existing, single-span concrete slab bridge will be replaced with an 18x10-foot precast concrete box culvert, and the project will include placing rock channel protection at the outlet of the structure.

The project will require approximately 0.156 acres of permanent right of way; however, no homes or businesses will be removed as a result of construction. Currently, a contract is anticipated to be awarded in the summer of 2020, and closure of the route is anticipated during construction.

Additional information, including a complete description, maps and plans sheets, is available online at www.dot.state.oh.us/districts/D09/Pages/Public-Involvement-Process.aspx.
