US 20 Major Rehabilitation Project

What to expect this season

Friday, April 5, 2019

Construction is underway on US 20, in the City of North Ridgeville, for the 2019 season. As work gets back into full swing, please be sure to give yourself extra time to get to your destination. Work form Jaycox Rd. to Stoney Ridge Rd., has the existing traffic lanes shifted to the north side of US 20. Three 10 ft. lanes will be maintained, one lane in each direction with one center turn lane, during this phase of construction. This will allow for the temporary concrete pavement and new storm sewer along the south side of US 20 to be installed. Crews will continue to work on the Root Rd. structure over French Creek and will begin work on the intersection realignment this year.

The intersection of US 20 and SR 83 will see some major impacts this season. The eastbound US 20 designated right turn lane to SR 83 is currently closed. Motorists will still be able to turn south onto SR 83. The westbound designated right turn lane to SR 83 north and the SR 83 designated left turn lanes to US 20 will close later this month. Motorists should expect increased congestion at this intersection as construction activity increases. Message boards will be placed on SR 83, just south of Lorain Rd. and south of Sugar Ridge Rd., to alert northbound motorists of potential delays.  We ask that you use an alternate route when possible.

Work between Jaycox. and Main Ave. will have traffic lanes shifted to the south side of US 20. Three 10 ft. lanes will be maintained in this location as well. This will allow the intersection of Lear Nagle Rd. to be built on the north side of US 20. Crews will continue work on retaining walls on the east end of the project and storm sewer work. Work on pavement reconstruction with intersecting roads, including Jaycox Rd., will begin in the coming weeks.

Please note that the work outlined for this season is the project teams best estimate for what will be accomplished but is subject to change.
