Second Street Bridge Closed At Portsmouth

Chillicothe (Saturday, February 9, 2019) -- The Second Street Bridge (S.R. 73) at the city of Portsmouth has been closed due to flooding.

In addition to this, S.R. 73 has been closed at the U.S. 52/S.R. 852 overpass, leading to the Second Street Bridge, and S.R. 239 is closed between U.S. 52 and S.R. 73/104 at West Portsmouth.

Based on water levels and cresting stages, it is anticipated that these routes will be closed through next week, and all closures are in effect until further notice.

Motorists wanting to travel to downtown Portsmouth via S.R. 73 East and the Second Street Bridge may detour by way of U.S. 52 and U.S. 23, and S.R. 239 motorists may detour by way of U.S. 52 and S.R. 73 West. Motorists are reminded that crossing any closed route is strictly prohibited.
