Construction Begins On S.R. 327, S.R. 93
Chillicothe (Monday, May 14, 2018) - The first part of a dual bridge replacement project in Jackson County is getting under way, with operations starting on state Route 327 this week.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be replacing a structure that is located between T.R. 513 (Thornton Road) and T.R. 153 (June Marshall Road) on SS.R. 327, just north of the route's junction with U.S. 35. Throughout construction, the route will be reduced to one lane, and traffic will be maintained with temporary signals.
The project also includes replacing a bridge on S.R. 776, between T.R. 244 (Mayhew Road) and T.R. 1046 (Mineral Heights Road), one mile west of Jackson. During construction, S.R. 776 will be subject to a 45-day closure, and although a date to close the route has yet to be determined, it is anticipated to go into effect the week of June 4. When the route is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 32 and S.R. 139.
R C Construction Company & Son Inc. was awarded a contract in the amount of $989,940 to replace both bridges, and all work is scheduled to be completed in late summer.
In addition to the dual bridge replacement project, construction crews from American Pavements Inc. will be working on S.R. 93 in Jackson County, as a preventive maintenance project gets under way this week as well.
The contractors will be paving the route from T.R. 738 (Cedar Street) at the southern corporation limit of Oak Hill to T.R. 601 (Sternberger Road), and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.
American Pavements was awarded a contract for approximately $357,808 to complete the project, and construction is anticipated to be completed in early summer.
