Painesville: Newell Street bridge
to close over State Route 2
Bridge over SR 2 to close for 180 days
LAKE COUNTY (Thursday, April 12, 2018) - Construction operations to replace the bridge deck – also known as the driving surface – and steel beams of the Newell Street bridge over SR 2 in Painesville will close the bridge starting Friday, April 20 for approximately 180 days.
During the closure, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 20 (Mentor Avenue), SR 44, SR 2, Heisley Rd. and Blackbrook Rd.
 Demolition and construction operations will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Off-peak lane closures on SR 2 at Newell Street will be necessary for overhead bridge work. Those details will be forthcoming.
The bridge deck replacement work is expected to be complete and open to traffic in October 2018.
