Additional Closures In Place In Lawrence County
Chillicothe (Sunday, February 18, 2018) -- Restrictions are now in place on S.R. 243 in Lawrence County, and the route is closed at two locations.
S.R. 243 has now been closed between S.R. 378 and C.R. 36 (McKinney Creek Road), as well as between C.R. 68 (Shafer Town Road) and C.R. 2 (Greasy Ridge Road), due to flooding.
Along with these new restrictions, S.R. 650 remains closed at U.S. 52 and Hanging Rock and between C.R. 43 (Kelly's Mill Road) and S.R. 522 due to flooding. In addition, U.S. 52 is reduced to one lane at the Rock/McPherson Avenue overpass to allow for traffic entering and exiting the highway where the flood gates have been raised and closures are in place on North Second Street in downtown Ironton.
Elsewhere in District 9, closures remain in effect at the Second Street Bridge and the S.R. 73/104 interchange ramps at Portsmouth and on S.R. 239, between U.S. 52 and S.R. 73 at West Portsmouth, in Scioto County.
Motorists are reminded that crossing any closed route is strictly prohibited, and they should avoid traveling on roadways which remain open but where standing water may be present.
