(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – As part of its ongoing effort to support technological companies and create a pipeline of diverse and dynamic talent, the Ohio Department of Development today announced the opening of a new round of company applications through a state-sponsored internship program.
Tech-based companies, or businesses with a technological need, can be reimbursed through the College Technology Internship Program with up to two-thirds of each intern’s salary.
“We’re committed to providing Ohio’s most innovative companies with the resources they need to expand and thrive,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Department of Development and chair of the Third Frontier Commission. “The College Technology Internship Program allows companies to recruit local talent while helping shape the next generation of innovators and launch meaningful careers right here in Ohio.”
The Ohio Third Frontier, an economic development initiative within the Department of Development, will reimburse companies for two-thirds of an intern’s wages—up to $7,500. The company can hire as many as 10 interns per round, and the minimum wage for interns is $15 per hour but can exceed that amount. The program is accepting company applications through Aug. 29.
Through 16 rounds of the program, 1,376 interns have been hired.
Previous interns have had a wide range of skills and experience—from design and engineering, to mathematics, to software development. They’ve also helped companies with everything from developing social media platforms, to implementing new software and enhancing cybersecurity.
Internships for this round can occur between Nov. 1, 2025, and April 30, 2026, and the student application period will run from Sept. 2-26.
