Charming Ohio College Towns to Call Home
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — As students settle in to their school year routines, and parents plan their homecoming visits, TourismOhio has everything you need to get the most out of a visit to one of Ohio’s charming college towns.
“Exploring Ohio’s college towns is like discovering the threads of your future woven into the fabric of our great state,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development, which oversees TourismOhio. “Each campus, each community, offers a glimpse into the endless opportunities and vibrant lifestyle waiting for you here in Ohio.”

Each fall, schools across Ohio welcome the incoming class of freshmen. According to a recent report by the National Center on Education Statistics (NCES), Ohio is the fourth highest net importer of new college students in the U.S.
Your guide to Charming College Towns in Ohio features must-see sights and attractions, highly recommended local dinning, and unique places for visitors to stay in Wilberforce, Akron, Dayton, Oxford, Columbus, Athens, and Yellow Springs.
“In towns all across Ohio, a short drive, Uber, or bus ride can transport students from their campus surroundings to an exciting off-campus world of discovery where they will be welcomed during their college and post-graduate years,” said Jacquelyn Powell, Dayton Convention & Visitors Bureau President & CEO. “I encourage students to access the plethora of free information provided by Convention & Visitors Bureaus (CVBs) in their college and university communities. Take time to check-out the CVB websites and make personal bucket-lists of area attractions and activities to experience during college. Fall in love with your school and your community!”
