(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — The Ohio Department of Development today announced the approval of more than $2.1 million in support for six Ohio businesses by the Ohio Minority Development Financing Advisory Board (MDFAB) during its monthly board meeting. The support will help minority- and women-owned businesses sustain and expand their operations.
MDFAB reviews and makes recommendations on loans and surety bond requests. MDFAB consists of 10 members, seven appointed by the governor, one appointed by the president of the Senate, and one appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives. The Director of the Development’s designee is also a voting member.
MDFAB approved these actions:
Chagrin Valley Dental LLC, Chagrin Falls (Cuyahoga County), was approved for $323,615 from the Women’s Business Enterprise Loan Program. The women-owned dental practice offers the latest technologies in modern dentistry to treat and enhance patients holistically. The funds will be used for equipment upgrades and office expansion and may create five new jobs.
Eco Energy Construction Inc., Uniontown (Stark County), was approved for $75,000 from the Women’s Business Enterprise Loan Program. The company provides eco-friendly and energy-conservation insulation, remodeling, and exterior construction services to residential and small commercial customers in Northeast Ohio. The funds will be used to purchase real estate for offices and warehouse space and may create 10 new jobs and retain six jobs.
Dos Hermanos Taco Truck LLC, Columbus (Franklin County), was approved for $500,000 from the Women’s Business Enterprise Loan Program. The company has grown to four brick-and-mortar locations, including its most recent location at Easton Town Center. The company continues its food truck services as well as offering catering services. The funds will be used to refinance existing debt and will help retain 21 full-time positions.
No Limits Excavating LLC, Bellefontaine (Logan County), was approved for $186,754.50 from the Women’s Business Enterprise Loan Program. The company provides excavation, hauling, pond reconstruction, site clearing, grading, parking lot construction, and other heavy equipment services throughout the Bellefontaine area. The funds will be used to purchase new equipment to seek larger contracts and may create three new jobs.
Peace & Pine Properties, LLC Powell (Delaware County), was approved for $75,000 from the Women’s Business Enterprise Loan Program. The company is a full-service interior design firm specializing in creating approachable spaces and provides services ranging from a smaller space refresh to large-scale home renovation designs. The loan will support renovating the interior and expansion of parking for the company’s property.
Kingsley Consulting LLC., Cincinnati (Hamilton County), was approved for $1 million from the Ohio Minority Business Bonding Program. The company provides general contracting, real estate development, and construction management services. The funds may create 10 new jobs. The bond will assist with a project awarded by the City of Cincinnati Affordable Housing Fund. The Minority Business Bonding Program provides bid, performance, and payment surety bonds to state-certified minority-owned businesses that are unable to obtain bonding through standard surety companies.
In 2022, more than $9.34 million in loans were dispersed to more than 100 minority- and women-owned businesses.
More than $3.4 million remains available through the Women’s Business Enterprise Loan Program, more than $8.5 million through the Ohio Minority Business Bonding Program, and more than $5.2 million remains available through the Ohio Micro-Loan Program.
