Ohio Receives Federal Guidance on Restoring Full November SNAP Benefits
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) announced today that it has received guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) that will ensure Ohioans will get their full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November. Earlier this week and under previous FNS guidance, Ohio processed partial payments for eligible households.
The latest FNS guidance instructs ODJFS take immediate steps to ensure households receive their full November allotments promptly. To comply, Ohio will calculate the full benefit households would have received in November and deduct the partial amount already paid. Authorization for those amounts will be transmitted to Ohio’s Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) vendor to issue to recipients through their Ohio Direction (EBT) card. This includes households that received no partial benefits due to the previous federal guidance.
ODJFS has begun the process but does not have an expected issuance date. Recipients should monitor their accounts using the Connect EBT app, or through the Ohio Benefits Self Service Portal. The latest information will also be posted at jfs.ohio.gov.
Prior to the federal government shutdown, approximately 1.4 million Ohioans received about $264 million in food benefits from SNAP each month.
