Ohio Department of Medicaid Seeks Feedback About OhioRISE.
In their efforts to better serve young people with behavioral health challenges and their caregivers throughout our communities across the state, the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM), is asking for your feedback about OhioRISE.
We understand the OhioRISE program will continue to evolve to mature and address changing needs. We also know that local perspectives provide us with the building blocks we need to spread best practices and creative initiatives from one part of our state to the next. We ask you to raise your voice for OhioRISE by either completing this form or emailing OhioRISE@medicaid.ohio.gov with ideas for improving the program or sharing the unique ways you’re implementing OhioRISE with your agency’s stakeholders.
Over the past five years, ODM and our partners – including partner state agencies – have been working together to begin shifting the system of care to keep more youth and families together, support young people and their caregivers with care coordination, and build up access to new services to support the complex mental health and substance use needs of the young people in our program. We have found that this long-term work requires tenacity, passion, and above all else deep collaboration among partners across our child-serving systems. OhioRISE continues to rely on stakeholder input to inform the evolution of our program.
During this second year of OhioRISE, we are starting new ways to get more feedback to improve how the program works.
We ask that you not only provide your feedback but help us to spread the word! Attached to this email, you will find the following communications you can use to share this information:
- Content that can be used in an email or newsletter targeted toward OhioRISE families, caregivers, and members.
- Content that can be used in an email or newsletter targeted toward community and county partners, entities, and providers.
- Prepared content you can post to your agency website.
- Posts you can share through your social media channels.
Thank you for continuing to help us provide family-centric programs that reach every eligible child and youth who needs us statewide.
Please send questions to OhioRISE@medicaid.ohio.gov.
Thank you, The Ohio Department of Medicaid

Data Review Project Now Underway
The Children Services Placement Workgroup’s recommendation to conduct a review of cases involving children and youth in the custody of a Public Children Services Agency (PCSA) who have been in a congregate care setting for two to five years is currently underway.
The Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY) placement team is connecting with service teams of children and youth in the first wave of reviews. This initial group consists of children and youth 12 years old and younger and those who are 13 years old and older who are identified as leaving congregate care this summer. In bringing together local teams and OhioRISE providers with additional supports from state sister agencies, including the Ohio Departments of Medicaid, Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health and Addiction Services, and Youth Services, we hope to provide each child and youth with the opportunity to step into a family-like setting with all the supports needed to be successful.
As we move forward, please watch for notifications from DCY regarding the reviews. All PCSA Directors or Administrators who have children and youth in a wave for review will receive an email when those reviews are beginning. Service teams will then receive an email from the DCY Placement Project Manager, Lucy Gobble, identifying the child or youth as well as next steps.
DCY would like to thank our partners for their willingness to engage and DO WHAT'S RIGHT FOR KIDS! If you have any questions, please feel free reach out to our placement email box at placement@childrenandyouth.ohio.gov.
