OFCC highlights completion of Rhodes Tower project
The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) highlighted completion of the Rhodes Tower modernization project at its meeting last week. DAS is a partner with the OFCC on state construction projects and Director Kathleen Madden is a member of the commission.
The multi-year project to modernize the tallest building in State of Ohio government included the replacement of more than 3,000 windows with new, energy efficient window systems. The other major part of the project included granite replacement on the building’s exterior.
“We are pleased with the Rhodes renovations and while it took some time to complete, it was a thorough renovation that addressed some pressing and future needs,” said Madden, who was named Vice Chair of the Commission during the same meeting. “The building is humming again, and state employees and the public can now fully enjoy the iconic downtown landmark.”
MLK award nominations accepted all year
On Jan. 13, the Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission hosted its annual commemorative celebration honoring Ohio individuals and organizations who are carrying on the legacy of Dr. King.
The commission is now accepting nominations all year so please bookmark the nomination form and consider nominating any Ohioans you encounter who are advancing Dr. King’s principles of nonviolent change and the pursuit of racial, social and economic justice. All nominations accepted before Oct. 30 will be considered for the commission’s next awards ceremony in January 2023.
The 12-member commission receives administrative support from DAS and is also making plans for its annual Statewide Youth Oratorical Contest this spring.
