Flory named interim state CIO
DAS recently announced a change in leadership in its Office of Information Technology (OIT). Katrina Flory is now interim state chief information officer and head of OIT.
Flory is an accomplished IT professional with extensive experience in State government well prepared to lead the division and ensure our many projects continue moving forward smoothly. Katrina has been deputy state CIO since 2011, leading efforts to establish OIT strategic direction and overseeing operations of enterprise shared services such as OAKS, the InnovateOhio Platform, Ohio Business Gateway, and eLicense system. She joined OIT in 2000 and was previously with the Ohio Department of Taxation.
Flory will also serve as interim assistant director for DAS and will be responsible for the strategic direction and efficient use of IT across State government.
“Katrina’s deep knowledge of State government will enable a seamless transition and continuation of our work to leverage technology assets to improve the wellbeing of Ohioans and their health, property, security, and livelihoods,” said DAS Interim Director Matt Whatley.
Flory replaced Ervan Rodgers, who accepted an opportunity outside of State government.
“Ervan has been an extraordinary leader who emerged as a thought leader, bringing national attention to OIT staff and their tremendous successes,” added Whatley. “We at DAS wish Ervan all the best in his new challenge.”

It’s been an eventful month in the DAS Office of Information Technology (OIT). Several leaders have been busy demonstrating Ohio’s role as a thought leader in the IT industry and collecting national awards along the way.
Neal Gallucci, technical adviser with the DAS-managed Innovate Ohio Platform, and Brett Adamik, identity service manager, shared their expertise on ID management and user experience in Ohio at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers mid-year conference on May 26.
On the same day, OIT participated in the National Cybersecurity Center’s training for state leaders along with Lt. Governor Jon Husted, Secretary of State Frank LaRose, Rep. Rick Carfagna, and Sen. Vernon Sykes. The training focused on the importance of vigilance against cybersecurity threats.
Former State CIO Ervan Rodgers joined the May 18 Data in Action Summit along with other top IT leaders to discuss data strategy and management. View the summit on demand at fedscoop.com. He also participated in the May 28 CIO Exchange covering how tech is transforming government institutions.
Finally, Ohio IT leaders had a strong showing in the annual StateScoop 50 Awards announced last week.
Anupam Srivastava, left, Ohio chief information security officer, received the State Cybersecurity Leader of the Year award, and Kristina Hagberg, right, state chief transformation officer, received the Up & Comer of the Year award.
Former State CIO Ervan Rodgers was also recognized with the Golden Gov Award that recognizes visionary state executives who lead State government into a new technology landscape with innovative ideas and inspire others to get on board.
Congratulations to all three awardees and the entire team who makes Ohio a leader in government IT!
