A Gathering at Italian Village Park Celebrates New Park, Public Art in the Heart of Italian Village
COLUMBUS - Join Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and community partners for a celebration and open house marking the revitalization of Italian Village Park, a beloved greenspace at the heart of one of the City’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
Residents are invited to mingle with neighbors, explore the park’s new features and learn about the park’s new mural, "The Gathered," from its renowned artist, Andrew Hendrixson. Live music by George Barrie and light refreshments from Short North businesses will be available.

About the Project
Italian Village Park, a beloved greenspace, was recently redeveloped to match the spirit of its vibrant namesake neighborhood. The new park design preserves green space, encourages connection, enhances park safety, and offers a stunning backdrop to align historic Italian Village with the arts and culture of the Short North. About the Mural
“The Gathered” by Andrew Hendrixson is a 50’ x 12’ glass mosaic tile mural located in Italian Village Park. Hendrixson is a writer and artist based in Seattle. A graduate of the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, his work has appeared in New American Paintings and Princeton Theological Review. He was a 2020 artist in residence at both the Byrdcliffe Art Colony and the Chautauqua School of Art.
